Cali Grill with a 5 yr old??

I have a reservation for myself and my 5 yr old DD for CG in October. I have never eaten there and I thought it would be a good opportunity for us to have a great dinner together. My ressies are for 8 pm for I'm hoping to drag it out long enough to see wishes. Normally I would not even think about bringing my child to such an expensive restaurant, eventhough she is extremely well behaved, but I thought it would be special for both of us. What are your thoughts on young children at high-end restaurants and for those that have been to the CG before, have you seen younger children dining there??

Yes, there are usually a fair number of kids there.

You said she is well-behaved, so if you think she will enjoy it, there's absolutely no reason not to take her.

I think if you are going there because you want to eat there and believe your child can handle it I would do it - but I would not think of it as a place that would make a special dinner for the two of you. It might be special for you, but probably not for her.

First of all you said you want to drag out the length of it - an excruciating task for a child to sit still for that long - and then you want to watch wishes. If I were thinking of a great time for a child and myself I would choose a place she would think is great - which would be casual and have characters and would be fast and close to the live fireworks. That would be special for me because she would be enjoying herself so much - and special for her because she was having so much fun with me.

I've read other reports where people had reservations so that they could watch Wishes from the restaurant. However, others who were dining earlier didn't leave until after Wishes, so they didn't get seated until after Wishes was over. You might have a very long wait.
