Cali Grill Bar?

Hi, as anyone had any experience just hanging out at the bar at the California Grill? I would like to go there for drinks prior to fireworks time. Do they allow you to order off the menu by any chance? Are reservations in the restaurant required to just sit at the bar? I know you have to take a special elevator up, but will they let you if you're just there for drinks?

Yes you can order off the menu at the bar.

Getting up there depends on the capacity. Many times, especially anytime remotely close to fireworks, the dining seating backs up and all of the bar area is being used for reservation people waiting on their tables. I've been there more than once where we actually stood along the wall waiting for our table because the bar area was already packed with waiting diners.

I've heard there's more success getting to sit at the bar for drinks closer to restaurant opening time.
