Here is what I am looking at as details for the Calendar Swap that starts next week. Let me know what you think. The swap will open when I get up and on-about 8am EST. I won't take presign-ups but you can get a swap buddy. You may only sign up once for each group until we are ready to close out. If a style of group quickly fills up I will open another. If you are new to swapping with me than I ask you to only join each type of group once.

Groups:

Group 1: Completed Pages (12 pages)

For this group you will choose a month and make a 12 by 12 page for the month. Each page should have:
1. a title (can be a topper with the month, individual letters, a bookmark style down the page) which should be double matted and embellished.
2. mats: this can be 2- 4by6, 1-4by6 and 2 smaller mats, 1- 5by7, and 1 smaller mats, or 4 plus small mats. All of the mats should be embellished at least once (see list of embellishing techniques for examples).
3. A journaling spot- this can be a tag, hidden behind something, a file folder, a matted box, a matchbook. You journaling spot should be double matted (except file folder/matchbox) and embellished twice. It should have at least a 3 by 3 inch journaling area)
3. 1 large or 2 small other elements or page enhancements
Large: border, paper piecing, pocket (for journaling tag?), shaker box, matted poem/lyric (see elements listed below for requirements)
Small: matted shapes (3), slide mounts, layered diecuts
Page enhancements: stickling background paper, embossing on page, adding flock to page, basically using the background paper embellishing instead of adding layers to it (this should only be done if using a patterned background paper.

Group 2: Elements (12 per group)
For this group you will choose a month and make page kits for someone to use to make a calendar for the year.
Each kit must include:
1.Topper/Title/Matted letters- these should be double matted and embellished
2.2 photo mat – for 4 by 6 photos, double matted and embellished twice
3.1 journaling box- with a 3by3 inch area for journaling on top of 2 mats, embellished twice, if you make a specially shaped journaling box it may be matted just once but should still be embellished twice.
4. An element for the following list:
2 Borders – 12” that can be cut down to 11”
4 Embellished Shapes– largest mat should be no larger than 2”
2 Tags – no smaller than 2x3 & larger is fine; double matted plus fiber or eyelet in the hole

Thanks for the info Rebecca.
I was going to pass on it, but now that I've read the requirements, the complete pages are calling to me. :)

The nice thing is that we all have things that happen each month so we can all use them. Of course with the 365 project going on people may want to use them for years they haven't documented yet. I really like the being able to enhance the background paper instead of covering more of it, especially since I have started using patterned paper.

Yes each group will be for 12 people. In group 1 you will get 12 complete pages that you can make into a calendar or use as scrapbook pages for the year or anything else you want to do with them.

I am so looking forward to this one! I plan to sign up for both. I am taking more photos that usual because of Project 365, so I'll have plenty of extra monthly photos! THanks for the information.

The complete pages are calling me. I wasn't going to join but I may have to really think about it.

Question -- does the paper we use have to be the same for all 12 sets? I have quite a few stacks now, but there is not enough of any one pattern for all 12 sets.

I'd like to do the full pages would anyone care if I scraplifted a design from a basic grey kit I got for x-mas this year???? It's super cute and it's for 1 5x7 pic....
I think that's against the rules though......:rolleyes1

20 mins later....
Wow I was just reading through what needs to be on the 12X12 and that's just alot of stuff on one page....I think I'll stick to elements.

Another question -- Halloween theme for OCtober, Thanksgiving theme for November, Christmas for December -- are these themes okay?

For the topper -- we are specifically using the month name "January" for the topper as opposed to something else that may be appropriate "A New Year" correct?

Just as in the other completed page swaps different but equal quality would be just fine. I certainly understand not having 12 pages of one type.

Yes- the name of the month would be the title. It makes it more generic for everyone- for example those without kids wouldn't need a Sept layout labeled back to school. Themes that go with the month are fine. If some of our overseas friends join they may need a slightly different page (for example no 4th of July in England).

I am without internet access so if I don't have it back by Tuesday I will start the swap as soon as I get it back.

Rebecca

1 page layouts - 2 pages per person would be too much. I think I will add into the instructions to please list the lines/colors and brands choosen to make it easier to match.

I've been thinking about this as a requirement/request a lot more too... Some are really worried about the page being complete w/ elements and such lately..
It'd be nice if they could add it in the prototype section for the ones of us who lift their ideas! LOL

when I first started to swap I did that but later I forgot. I would love to do that again. Not so much for completed pages (unless they were just single pages) but definitely for elements.

ETA: I wouldn't stress over it if you are using up current stash, unless you happen to know the name of the paper before you started to cut it up. But maybe in the future we should try to do this more.

I was not going to do this one this year but I feel myself being drawn in....... it would have to be elements though *** we don't have flat rate postage here so every extra skittle costs... :headache:

ETA thanks for reminding everyone what we don't have over here!

The stuff made in the last one was well good so i am very temped! just to check 8am EST is 1pm UK time isnt it?!
xx
