Hello!

I don't know if anyone will be able to help me with a quick question...

We are getting married late next year but won't be able to do a planning session in person due to money issues etc and one of the things we really wanted to do was a cake tasting! We are going out later this year and wondered whether there is anywhere that does the cake flavours similar to the ones they provide for the wedding cake, like maybe the Boardwalk Bakery?

I fear I may be a bit too excited about the cake... :thumbsup2

Any ideas? :confused3

Depending on where your reception is, is where you would get a cake similar to your wedding cake. If your reception is at the Boardwalk you can order one from the bakery there. If it's at the GF then call the cake line and order one from the GF bakery.

Can't help with your question but just noticed your in Berkshire. Where abouts? Me too!

If you're having a Wishes wedding, your cake will be made by the Grand Floridian Bakery, no matter where the reception is.

The only way to get one of those cakes is to be dining or staying at the Grand Floridian - there is no bakery you can just walk up to there. If the Cake Hotline gives you the runaround, you can call Private Dining at the GF to order: 407-824-2474. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. :thumbsup2

We are having a Wishes Wedding, I'm not really up to speed with all of this, can you just order a big cake from the GF Bakery through this hotline? (Sorry if I sound incredibly stupid!)

Trouble is, we want to try a couple of different flavours, not sure how this would be possible?

Hey! I’m just outside of Newbury, about 20 mins from Reading, how about you?

Small world, we are in Burnham, (between Slough and Windsor) x

Yeah, that's the tricky part. You could order a couple 6-inch cakes, but they're still a LOT for 2 people, and the custom ones start around $50 each. (Don't let them talk you into what we on the DIS call "podium cakes" - i.e., the previously frozen chocolate and vanilla cakes they keep on hand for requests made at the restaurant podium).

If you wanted to try the basic flavors, the GF sells mini wedding cakes with white chocolate castle toppers in chocolate w/dark chocolate mousse and yellow cake with white chocolate mousse. But at $30/pop, they're a much worse value than a 6-inch custom cake.

There are a few other, cheaper styles of mini cake available from the GF (the cheapest being about $17), so you might ask about those. You just won't be able to get carrot cake or any of the fresh fruit fillings.

My rule of thumb for our tasting session was "What can they screw up?" Meaning that we didn't waste time trying flavors and items that we had a pretty good idea about. (Waffles, steak, chocolate cake - they all pretty much taste the same at Disney). We just tasted the things that might not turn out like we were expecting.

So if it were me, I'd order one 6-inch cake in the cake and filling flavors I was either most curious or most picky about. :goodvibes

Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to do! Thanks so much for your help!!

:thumbsup2

We are having our planning session in July and wanted to know for the cake tasting, do they bring you all the flavors or do you choose a couple before hand? Do they send you a form with the different kinds of flavors and you pick some to try?

Thanks,
