Did anyone not use the big marble table for their cake in the Whitehall room? I'd really rather have a separate cake table where we can stand behind and everyone can see us cut the cake.

Do you have pictures of the cake on a separate table?

Thanks!:goodvibes

We didn't use the marble table in front of the mirror with those birds on it. DH had big issues with the birds!:lmao: So we had a cake table off to the side of our sweetheart table. Click on this link and you can see pictures of the table and see us cutting our cake.

That's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks.

Very cool cake, BTW! I love the pumpkins and the fall colors.

Glad I can help! And thanks for the compliment!!:goodvibes The cake tasted as good as it looked too!

We had ours next to our sweetheart table as well and we also had the birds from hell covered with fabric.

I don't have too many photos uploaded but here is the cake table

and you can see the wall covered with fabric in the background of this photo

ok... i am laughing so damn hard about the whole "birds from hell" thing!!!! we should be having our reception there, and since i keep saying i want a veil/head piece with flowers and maybe a bird on it so maybe we could sit right in front of the crazy birds!!!! we could have a crazy bird theme!!!!!

i love it!!!!!

in fact, i need to know what is particularly evil about the birds? i need a close up!!!!!

When DH walked into the Whitehall room for the first time the first thing he noticed was those birds and told me no way were we having our reception in that room with those birds!:lmao: They bothered him so much. I didn't like them either but he HATED them. We ended up not covering them(I wanted that room no matter what) and putting our cake on a separate table. My WP kept telling me that once the room is decorated we wouldn't notice the birds. Well, she was so right! There was no focus on them whatsoever. The room was dim(6pm reception in Nov) and the decor in there was so beautiful that no one even noticed them, not even us!

We had our cake table next to the buffet, I didn't ask for it not to be in front of the birds, but I'm really glad it wasn't!

I still say my family would be peeping under any cover we use for the birds. :rotfl:

The birds were the first thing I wanted to see when I went for my planning session. I honestly don't think they're that bad. I think the mirror goes with the theme of the room, but that's my two cents. ;)

I'm just moving the cake to a different table because I want to behind the table cutting the cake with everyone watching. :goodvibes

soooooooooooo.... had you HEARD about the weird birds before hand?

We did not use the marble table/shelf. Our cake table was set up on a separate table behind the sweetheart table. We had 5 tables of 10 and the DJ was set up in front of the birds which I had covered because I think they are hideous. I don't have my professional pics yet on disc but here is a shot from one of my friends of the sweetheart table and cake table behind it (and our first dance :)

hope this helps!

I had heard about the birds beforehand. It was funny, because when I went for my planning session, the WHR was completely draped - all the walls were covered - so my WP had to pull the draping back so I could see the mirror. It was the first thing I wanted to see when I went in there, because I had to find out if it was really THAT bad. And I didn't think it was. But again...that's MY opinion. I don't want to start any bird wars or anything. :rotfl:

Well, I didn't mind the birds. We had our cake in front of that mural:

I can see how some people wouldn't care for the style, but it hardly seems a horrific as some people are suggesting it is...
