Cake on Illuminations Cruise

I did ask this on the cake chatter thread but didn't get a reply so thought I would ask outside the cake thread to see if anybody has done this.

Has anybody had a cake for/on the illuminations cruise?

If so did you order from BC/YC private dining to be delivered to the cruise or from Broadwalk Bakery and pick the cake up and take it with you?

Hi, I'm not sure of the answer, but you might try the wedding and honeymoon thread. There are a lot of Disney Brides that do illumination cruises, and maybe someone over there will have the answer. I know you can special order cakes from Boardwalk Bakery, so I don't know why you couldn't take one on the cruise with you.

I haven't ordered a cake but I was told that we couldn't bring any food on board, it all had to be ordered from Private Dining.

So I imagine you'll have to go through them.

Last year when we did a Wishes Fireworks Cruise we had a fruit and cheese platter along with some desserts delivered to the boat before we left the dock. We left out of the Poly. The best thing to do would be to call the 407-wdw-play number and tell them you have a cruise scheduled, which resort you are leaving out of and they will give you the appropriate phone number to call for the cake. The number I have was for our of the Poly so that wouldn't be much help to you.
I do know you can't take your own food on the boat, even if it's something from a Disney bakery. So you will have to contact the appropriate group at Disney to book it. But it shouldn't be a problem at all!

We ordered a cake through BC/YC Private Dining for an Illuminations Cruise last July. On the night of the cruise they told us that they couldn't do the cake on the cruise because it was too humid and the cake would fall apart. Instead we had it delivered to our room for after the cruise.

Interesting - I hadn't heard that before - having the weather be too humid

Call private dining, they are the ones that will be making and arranging for the cake

Hey Aussietravellers. I just booked an (Illuminations) Specialty cruise by ringing on + 1 407 939 7529 (select option 1 after IVR starts). It will be my birthday and I plan to order cake and a cheese/fruit platter. When I asked the CM, she told me to ring + 1 407 934 3160 to order the food/cake (I will be staying at BCV). She advised that I wouldn't be able to bring any of my own food on board.

I'm off to do research on what type of cake

As I am probably doing two birthday things for my 40th (Illuminations and Grand 1) I was thinking of getting a planner to do it, so then they can do the cake and catering options, but I may just do it myself not that I have those numbers. Is that catering number for BC catering, do you know? We will be at AKL for the first week, then BC for the following two weeks, so I am doing the Grand 1 (if it is available when I book, if not it will be the Wishes cruise) in the last week and the illuminations in the first week when we will be at AKL.

Anyway I really appreciate your reply. When are you going? I would love to hear a report if you are going before us. I have been following the cake thread for ages now, planning what sort of cake to order, they do such beautiful cakes. So exciting,
