Cake, cake cake...I love CAKE!

I think cake is truly the most heavenly stuff in the world...heck, even beyond this world...ambrosia of the gods!

And, it's not just about the frosting. There has to be a good mix of both cake and frosting. Cake without frosting? Don't get me started...

Just got some cake from Central Market (TX people will know what I'm talking about), and it is fabulous! Italian Cream cake- my favorite. Followed very, very closely by chocolate cake with vanilla frosting.

And it can't be that Peppridge Farm stuff they sell in a box in the freezer section...although I guess that would work in a pinch.

No, actually it wouldn't. Bad cake doesn't cut it. It only leaves you wanting the good stuff. Yes, bad cake is a travesty. An absolute travesty. Culinarily speaking, of course.

If Marie Antoinette said to me "Let them eat cake!" I'd tell her to wait for me while I got my fork.

If cake was supported by either of the presidential candidates, they'd get my vote. I think I'd even vote for Nader if he was handing out cake at the Central Market.

Any other cake lovers (OK-fanatics) out there? What's your favorite?

German Chocolate! I happen to have it on good authority that President Bush loves cake too! I think on another thread you mentioned your students and them being of voting age, so if you are voting on your campus you must still vote for Bush, though I know you could be stoned for such a sacrilage. He loves cake, oh yes he does!

Each time I make cake, I leave part of it unfrosted because that is how DH likes it!

My favorite cake is Angel food!

Oh my yes, I love cake! And I even love the Pepperidge Farm cake--but it has to be the corner piece! I love chocolate cake with vanilla frosting or caramel frosting. I love yellow cake with chocolate frosting. And there is an Italian bakery nearby that sells a wonderful cake. It is sponge cake, with canoli filling and another layer of sponge cake with chocolate pudding. Then they frost it with whipped cream! Oh my!!!!!!! They also soak the sponge cake with rum.....oh my again! Now I want cake! Maybe I'll bake. And I just thought of something else----cheesecake!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, I said that the candidate would have to "support" cake and not just "like" cake.

(BTW- I should add that I'd never tell my students how to vote. I'll only be encouraging them to take their active roles as citizens.)

Hahaha! I was going to say the same thing. I was supposed to see them last week but I had a horrible ear infection and soar throat.

Their new album is amazing.

And in regards to the other cake, I love butter cream frosting. Mmmmm.

DH & I just finished up a Red Velvet cake
w/cream cheese frosting - DS didn't like it, as it was "red."
So more for us!
I love cake - especially sweet, white birthday cake!
There used to be a bakery nearby that sold
pieces of birthday cake - a dream come true!
Also love chocolate cake w/buttercream frosting...
Or... Or... Or... Oh my goodness, I'm salivating!
Guess I'll have to bake one tomorrow

Favorite cake is Black Forest Cherry Cake. It has to have the Cherry Kirsch on it, or else it's not right. I hated the past 16 years in Maryland, I never could get it where it tasted right, and I found out that bakeries needed a liquor license to make it the right way.

Fortunately for me, Sommerfest has it the right way!

Strangest thing is, I'm not a huge fan of cherries! But put some Kirsch on them and it's a whole 'nother story.

Other favorite isn't a cake, but a custard...CHEESECAKE!

Butter cream frosting is soooooooo good!!!

I like cheese cake too, but still not as much as bakery cake.

Did anyone see the Seinfeld episode where Elaine got addicted to birthday cake at work and then ate the "antique" piece of wedding cake that Peterman had bought at an auction? Classic!

A friend of mine tells a cute story about her toddler daughter. After supper my friend asked her husband if he wanted any of the C-A-K-E? She was spelling because the toddler was still eating and she didn't want her to push the plate away and demand cake. Before her husband could reply, the toddler answered "I'll take some A-B-C cake!"

Now that's a kid after my heart! I love cake, too. My favorite are Plum Pudding Cake, Orange Chiffon, and Chocolate. Yummy!

I'm not usually a big cake fan, sorry. However, I have a wonderful recipe for a low fat carrot cake with cream cheese frosting that is so moist and flavorful it almost doesn't seem to be cake.

I also once played around with how many ways I could add chocolate to one cake - and that tasted pretty good. I think we decided to call it "Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate and chocolate cake with caramel.

Cake is definitely my favorite sweet. Particularly chocolate with my own buttercream icing. I also love a really good pound cake.

I don't like Italian Cream cake. Rum in a cake just ruins it.

Oh, and another thing, don't put any fruit in my cake either. Black Forest cake would be so mch better without that fruit layer.

Yes....cake. I haven't made one in a while. With it just being DH and I, a whole cake cake be very fattening! My grandmother was the greatest cook. She would make a <a href="chocolate%20cake" onmouseover="window.status='chocolate cake'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">chocolate cake</a> with a white, "seven minute frosting." The frosting was sweet and fluffy, almost like marshmallow. I also like coconut frosting on a white cake......or fudge frosting on a devil's food cake, with a scoop of vanilla <a href="ice%20cream" onmouseover="window.status='ice cream'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">ice cream</a>. I'd better stop now, or I'll be blowing dust off the Cake Bible!

When my nephew was little, we'd hide all the cakes because
once he saw them he'd run around the house screaming, "CAKE!
CAKE!" until we gave him some. LOL

One of my favorites is Tres Leches Cake. Anyone else heard of that? I never had til I moved here to Texas. I also love any bakery white cake with butter/sugar frosting. And I have a special fondness for the carrot cake at the Main Street bakery!
