One of our local malls ordered a cake from him. It was to look like the new entrance. The cake was truly awful. The fondant lines didn't match, it had little detail. There were bumps where is should be smooth. The cake was roped off so no one could touch it. I also saw it shortly after it was delivered. (Didn't see who from his shop delivered it.)

My SIL has eaten cakes made from his shop. She says there are much better tasting cakes from "normal" bakeries.

I am not impressed with him or his work.

I loved watching Duff on Ace of Cakes and was looking forward to Cake Boss. I just couldn't take the drama in the show and I thought Duff's cakes were far superior in detail terms of what I could see on TV. I'm not impressed with Cake Boss either.

I used to love his show, but now with the "next great baker" series...I think it's too much drama, and he makes the challenges so hard that I think he's setting them up to fail......I also think the "stardom" has gone to his head a bit....Just my opinion.

ITA, used to love the show...too much staged drama now and Buddy is toooooooooooooo over the top. I didn't think it would go to his head, but I think it has. It's a shame. I think he made a mistake buying that HUGE building for the new bakery, the whole point was he ran the little hometown bakery his father started.

You just pegged why I don't enjoy Cake Boss anymore. And Next Great Baker is beyond painful...must NOT see TV for us. :)

Agree with all the above comments. Buddy has definitely let fame get to his head (as has most of the rest of the family and staff.) Even in earlier episodes it was clear that Buddy was a hothead - I'd last about 5 minutes working for him before I told him off.

I must admit, I did watch the show on the Dream (that was the only reason I watched it)....it was good...I was thrilled to see Capt. Gus.....I met him on the Wonder.

That was the first time for me to see the show. It was entertaining but I don't know that I'd watch it without the Disney hook.

We visited Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken on the way home from NYC trip earlier this month. The cakes and pastries tasted AMAZING!

It was good seeing Mauro go on the Aqua Duck. If he can ride, I can ride. lol

I finally got around to watching the show. I really liked seeing the Dream, I could have done without seeing Buddy with no shirt... But I have to give it to him, that wedding cake was really beautiful. I loved all that piping work.

I have a couple questions....

Do they let people get married on the ship?

What was that room they had the ceremony in?

I finally watched it last night and came searching for threads to post on but, couldn't find one!

I don't know if I was hormonal last night or what, but I seriously cried through the whole thing! I cried at see them make the Dream complete with a working Aquaduck, at see the crew when they presented it, at seeing the vow renewal cake, at seeing Castaway Cay (which I am so desperate to visit someday), at watching the wedding and Buddy carry in little baby Carlo and kiss him. I was a stuffy fool by the end of the show.
