My town was on Cake Boss tonight! Buddy grew up in Little Ferry!!!

I lived in Little Ferry for 2 years and it was really nice to see the town on the show. I have some fond memories of there.

thats great tazdev... the lake looked great right???
He is right it is a nice town to grow up in!!

Can I just say, I cannot believe how much of a tourist attraction that bakery has become. It used to be on weekends you would have to wait 20 - 40 minutes to get in. The line would be to the Verizon store. I usually drive by there in the mornings and there is no line, looks like a normal bakery. All last week I drove by around 4pm and the line was down the block and even longer across the street, with barricades and security. It's insane.

So anyone who wants to visit Carlo's Bakery, go in the morning.

I love that show!! Just watched that episode! What a cute town you live in- neat! ;)

It was a great tribute to the town!
I would love to visit the bakery. It sounded like he wants to expand it.

The lake brought back a lot of memories and looked wonderful. We lived up the street from the lake on Grove St. It was a nice town but we moved back to Philly when my dad found a job here again. My mom hated being away from our family.

Gosh what I would give to be able to visit that bakery!! Everything looks so good.

We don't have a single bakery that even compares to that in Vermont. Nothing!!

I'm always amazed on the shows how packed the bakery is! I never knew they had a line outside that long :scared1:he must make a good chunk of change there.

Hoboken's Cake Boss will have to find a new name; judge grants temporary injunction to software firm that marketed a CakeBoss program two years before TV show

HOBOKEN - Head Cake Honcho? Cake King? Capo di Torta? Somehow none of these names captures Hoboken's beloved baker Buddy Valastro quite like "Cake Boss," as he is known to over a million TV viewers.

But, as of the end of the show's third season, The Learning Channel (TLC) will be forced to rename the popular reality-TV series featuring Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop, its owner and his famiglia.

A federal court judge in Seattle, Wash., barred Discovery Communications, TLC's parent company, from using "Cake Boss" for the show's title and associated merchandise in a July 16 court order, pending a future trial.

Judge Richard A. Jones granted a preliminary injunction in favor of Masters Software, Inc., the Seattle-based company suing TLC, which sells a business management software for professional cake bakers called CakeBoss.

Co-owners Kelley and Jon Masters began selling CakeBoss in 2007, two years before "Cake Boss" premiered on TLC in April 2009.

The Masters told the court they alerted Discovery the day it announced the series in March 2009, but the network declined to change the name, claiming there was no way anyone could confuse the show with the software.

Since the show first aired, Kelley Masters said in court, she has received numerous e-mails from "Cake Boss" fans and requests for custom cakes from Carlo's Bakery, a nuisance that also brought increased traffic to their website, www.CakeBoss.com.

In his order, Judge Jones acknowledged the Masters' potential to "rise with the 'Cake Boss' tide."

However, he added that granted its multi-million-dollar investment in the series, TLC could have conducted a simple search for the words and found Masters' product.

"Contrary to Discovery's implicit contention, there is no 'television shows always win' rule in the Ninth Circuit, as an examination of the cases reveals," Jones said in the 24-page order.

A spokesman from TLC said the company is unable to comment on ongoing litigation.

"Prior to this order we felt helpless in defending our small business against the actions of a corporation as big as Discovery Communications," said the couple in a statement on their website. "We are confident that justice will now prevail."

I live in Hoboken and I agree. Most of the time now you wait an hour or more on line.My daughter just told me she wants a cake from there for her birthday so I guess I'm going to have to wait on line.

It is a nice town.... they made it look a bit more picturesque than it is... we have highways and warehouses ... we are right outside of NYC afterall!

We have lots of great local bakeries in the NY Metro area... no need to wait at Carlos for good eats!! Almost every town has one!!!

Early Sunday morning is sweet! :thumbsup2 We stopped there one Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m. on the way to the city and it was EMPTY! We went on a Saturday morning around 11 a.m. and it was PACKED! And by the time we left there was a huge line outside. :sad2: Scary!!

Charlie.. LOL we have not talked since they banned political threads!!

That is interesting.... KakeBoss with a K might work LOL....

The web site owners should really just capitalize on it in some way....

If the NY area could handle 2 "bosses" .. george steinbrenner and Bruce you would think the baking world could handle it :rotfl2:

We have so many great bakeries in our area.... I can't imagine that Carlos is any better!! $45 for a 9 " round??? Sounds like Buddy wants to retire from baking when the show is done ...cause other than the shows selling point .. no one is going to want to pay that for a cake when the show is off air!!

I totally agree. When I got the cake I had no idea how much it was going to cost. Stupid me for not even asking. But she wanted this cake to have with her grandparents before they went back home for the holidays. I figured it would cost around $30 even with the show inflation. But holy cow when I saw it ring up $45 my eyes bugged out.

And you're right, he better start banking that money because once the show is gone that bakery is going back to normal. :sad2:

Did one of his sisters wait on you? They crack me up!

My town was on Cake Boss tonight! Buddy grew up in Little Ferry!!!

We saw it last night too! I wasn't really paying attention but my DS9 said "mom, Buddy's down at the field, look mom, that's our field." I glanced at the TV quickly and said, "no it's not, I think I heard them say Jersey City not Little Ferry" . DS9 then went into the other room where DH was watching the Yankee game and all of a sudden I hear DH say "holy cr*p, that's Little Ferry". I was really surprised because I had no idea Buddy grew up in Little Ferry. DH cam in the bedroom and took his HS year book out of the bookcase to see if Buddy or his sisters were anywhere in there but, they weren't. Maybe they didn't go to R.P. HS or DH is just much older than they are (DH graduated in 1988).

Buddy's family (the Valastros) lived on Mariani Drive$$$, DH grew up on the other side of Little Ferry a nice house on a nice street but, definatley not Mariani Drive.

The blond one was there (my DD's favorite) and one of them made my coffee. I did think that was funny. :goodvibes It was the one with the short hair. I think she is the younger of the group.
