Part 15 Friday, August 6, 2004 Animal Kingdom
It was early entry day at Animal Kingdom, so we headed over there to arrive shortly after opening. We stopped and looked at some of the animals by the Oasis. Then it was off to the Safari Ride-which ended up being a highlight of the Animal Kingdom day. We are all animal people, so we truly like this adventure. The line was fairly long (Even though the posted wait time said 15 minutes). We finally got to the ride vehicle and climbed in. I ended up in the middle of the seat between Andrew and Chris. All of us had come prepared to take pictures. I had three rolls of film and Chris had two disposable cameras and we had one black and white disposable camera. I t was an uneventful, yet fun ride until we came upon the giraffes in the savannah. One was eating from a tree that was right next to the road. When the safari vehicle stopped, the giraffe turned around and almost licked Andrew he was so close to us! That was a really neat experience. We also got to see the new elephant baby, which was just adorable. When we exited the safari, it was about a half an hour to the time for our PS at Donalds Breakfastsaurus. This was probably the best character meal I have ever experienced. The food was great, with lots of variety even picky eater Chris found things that he liked. Everyone liked the theme. The kids liked the corny ketchup joke and the daily newspapers. We had lots of photo opportunities with the characters. We even had to take pictures with Troop Leader Mickey since we are Cub Scout Den Leaders! After breakfast, we stood in the VERY LONG line at Primeval Whirl. I love the ride, but I probably will not do it ever again .every time I ride this ride it is so SLOW to load. It also seemed a lot rougher than when it first opened. We then went to Its Tough to Be a Bug (another favorite!). We also did Kali River Rapids since we had gotten fast passes for this earlier. The teenager did not want to get wet, so they waited for us. Since we had two extra fast passes, we let the boys go on by themselves again (this line was not too bad). They had a blast, and this time Andrew got SOAKED! The girls decided they had enough of Animal Kingdom, so they went back to the hotel. We went to see Tarzan Rocks. Great show, but way too hot of a theater. But could handle the heat as long as I got to look at Tarzan he was hot (in a good way!! Bad wig and all) Then we caught the parade and followed behind it like we were part of it and went on the safari again. This time was fun, but not as much as the first trip. We then went to Rafikis Planet Watch. We enjoyed this. I liked that there were no crowds, and it was air conditioned. I got my picture taken with Stanley and Rafiki himself. I also took a nice short nap in the dark cool rooms that have the night sounds and Grandmother Willow talking (cant remember what its called). We finally left there and headed out of AK. It was past closing time by now, so there were not many people left in the park. We ran into Chip and Dale and took pictures of the boys with them. Then on the way out, Suzanne got stopped by one of Disney Marketing people and answered questions for about a half hour while we waited. We were the only folks at the bus stop, so the transportation guy there asked where we were going and called for a bus for us. While waiting for it to arrive, two women in ECVs with a 7 year girl showed up. They ended up having to wait for a different bus that could accommodate both EVCs. By the time we got back, we were exhausted. I truly do not remember where we ate dinner this night.
