Cafe Orleans question

If I'm having lunch by myself at cafe Orleans, is it acceptable to order 2 starters instead of a starter and main??

Absolutely! Some of those appetizer portions are quite large, so no worries about ordering just starters. I've gone and just ordered dessert and it wasn't a problem. I do tip a little bit more than I usually would if I only order dessert, but I wouldn't necessarily feel the need to do that if I ordered two appetizers.

Yes definitely! Last time we went all we ordered was off the appetizer menu no problem at all. I highly recommend the French onion soup, Yum!

Order what you want, they will not have a problem. We had super service this last August and wonderful food.

I did exactly this when I was there on a solo trip about a month ago. Ordered the gumbo and pommes frites. It was way too much food, but I wanted to try both. It was a very pleasant meal and the waitstaff was very friendly. I didn't ever feel I was disaccomodating them.

By the way, since I was solo and could eat when the whim struck me, I didn't make reservations before the trip. I mostly called Disney Dining about 90 minutes before I wanted to eat at a TS restaurant and I had no problem making reservations for one at the time I wanted. Then when I walked up an hour or so later, I was seated right away whereas people just walking up were being told they would have an hour long wait.

You can order whatever you want. Their gumbo's way better than the bread-bowl gumbo across the street. A bowl of that gumbo and a basket of fries would be excellent.

Ditto that! The gumbo at Royal Street Veranda tasted more like a chili to me than gumbo...bleh! I love the gumbo at Cafe Orleans and the pomme frites are delish as well. If you are by yourself, I suggest ordering a cup of the gumbo only as opposed to a bowl since the order of fries is huge!

(He he, Nigel-no friends!). Hey Aust, if you want to go there with us before J and I leave, we'll come! I feel bad that you'll be going on your own...

I don't mind going on my own, as long as I get to try the pommes frites! and you said you didn't want to go, so that's why I'm going when you're elsewhere. We're running out of available mealtimes to try everything!

Ditto this, too!!

This, exactly.

Plus, you'll end up paying just a little bit more to eat, say, yummy gumbo & pommes frittes at CO (AND have a guaranteed table to sit down at...seating at the bread bowl place is sparse, at least if you want to eat right in front of it...) than to eat a stale bread bowl with a little bit of not-so-good gumbo.

The bread bowls used to be so yummy, but they really went down hill as of a couple of years ago, IMO.
