cafe mickey vs inventions, options please...

It's our first trip in August, myself, dh and dd 5. Looking to go for a meal for character interaction and nice food, I have read that in cafe mickey you don't need to order the set menu, is this the same in inventions? Opinions on both, greatly appreciated

Inventions is a buffet, so no menu as such. You help yourself to what ever you want for a set price.

With character's can we expect to see in each restaurant?

Yes, I agree. With the "nice food" requirement Cafe Mickey is definitely off the list for me too. Inventions is pricey, but the food quality is a lot higher.

Last time I was at Café Mickey our garlic bread was burned black - when we complained we got the same stuff back with the burns slightly scrapped off - and the pasta was totally oversalted.

Inventions sometimes has flaws too, but due to it being a buffet we always find something there that we really like.

With character's can we expect to see in each restaurant?

Characters can be somewhat similar. Cafe Mickey normally has a combination of Pooh characters and Mickey and friends. The most off character there I've seen last year (which was when we stopped going) was Gepetto. Inventions does have Mickey and friends, sometimes a character or two from Pooh and any number of really rare ones. I've seen anyone from Genie to Gideon from Pinocchio in there.

I would choose inventions every time!

Each trip we end up going to Cafe Mickey and each time we end up really disappointed with the food. The pizza I had there last week was pretty much inedible!

I think the character interaction is about the same at both restuarants - so it all comes down to the standard of the food - where Inventions wins hands down.

With character's can we expect to see in each restaurant?

Cafe Mickey you'll normally see Mickey, Pluto and Goofy and then normaly one or two others. On this trip they had Tigger & Donald. On previous trips we've seen Chip & Dale and Gepetto.

I think Inventions is a lot more varied, from memory we saw Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Gepetto, Pinocchio, Gideon, Tigger & Donald & Daisy.

We saw tigger, chip & dale, mickey, minnie and goofy at inventions and I have to say we liked cafe mickey better. My kids didn't like any food at inventions and for the price I wouldn't do it again

Thanks all for the replies, its nice to hear good and bad of both restaurants, my daughter is quite a good eater so i know we will get value for money at inventions, been looking at reviews on trip advisor and cafe mickey doesn't have good reviews but it's horses for courses I suppose

We did both. I'd go for Inventions no doubt. It's well worth the money.
