Cafe Mickey - Lunch Vs Dinner

Hi all,

I think I know the answer to this, but I wanted to ask you lovely people about your own experiences.

We've been to Cafe Mickey 3 times, every time at around 6.15pm. First two times we had a lovely corner table upstairs (first in both times!) and last time we have a table in the end of the conservatory - meant we were a bit in a goldfish bowl but we actually had lots of room for the interaction which was great.

We also saw pretty much the same characters everytime - Mickey, Minnie, Tigger & Pluto - with Eeore the first visit, and Goofy for the subsequent visits.

We were going to give it a miss next time, and try the Inventions evening meal, BUT my parents are coming too and although we'll probably still do Inventions before they arrive, my mum especially would probably like to see DD interact with Characters. Not a problem - we like the food there! And it's more affordable for my parents.

Every time we've been we've never had a problem with other people's children or anyone else being inconsiderate, but I know others on here have (just been readying some posts about it this morning!), but obviously every time we've been it's been busy, and we've probably been quite lucky with 3 stress free dinner visits.

Looking at my rough timetable for the week, I'm wondering if lunch in Cafe Mickey might be a nice idea, on our last day, before we leave. So (and I think I'm pretty sure on the answers, but I'd love to hear your experiences and opinions!)...

1. Are lunches generally quieter than dinner?

2. I'm hoping we'll see some different characters too - I appreciate Mickey and Minnie are always there, which is great!! But it would be nice to see Chip n Dale, or anyone else! lol As we're there for the Halloween season, is there likely to be any Halloween themed character (not like the Inventions brunch, in costumes and things, but maybe the chance of a 'bad guy' character like Captain Hook or something?). Likely? Wishful thinking? No way of predicting?! lol

3. Any other good suggestions or hints and tips for Cafe Mickey? Like I say, we HAVE been there 3 times, so we're not newbies.... but always happy to hear good experiences! (Lots of negative around, so thought I'd equal the balance!)

Thank you all!

We did both on our last trip :)
We went for dinner on the Monday and lunch on the Sunday
Michael said he liked the dinner better as it was busy and had atmosphere, but I like the lunch much more relaxed.
Tbh I'm going to do both next time too.
We saw the same characters at both lunch and dinner.
We been to cafe Mickey loads of times I don't like sitting upstairs feel like your missing out but that could just be me.

the characters at Cafe Mickey don't dress up in any of the theme seasons, they are just in their normal gear.

I did lunch on our last day last month, for the first time, mainly to fill up time on a busy saturday but it worked really well. Its busier than 6.15pm dinner though, however by 2pm ish it was getting quieter. We had Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Eeyore, Chip n Dale.

For lunch service they weren't using upstairs at all, just the main restaurant downstairs and the conservatory. I like either upstairs or downstairs, but not the conservatory and I have refused tables in that area before (politely, just asked to be seated elsewhere and I don't mind waiting).

Thanks - We didn;t know any different when we went first time and sat upstairs and the character basically came to us either first, or within 3 or 4 tables of arriving (due to our position and there not being anyone on the other tables at the start!). And it seemed so calm - so I like upstairs! lol

Oh that's the first time I've heard the lunch being busier than dinner!! Maybe because it was a Saturday? I'm thinking of lunch on the Friday, so may be quieter? Or was it because upstairs wasn't open??

We WERE lucky with the conservatory - looking down the rest of it it looked quite crowded, and we did get the odd few people glaring in - the worst was a mum and her child, with the child banging on the window - they didn't stay for long though. But yes, I'd probably request elsewhere in future!

It may have been my post about other peoples children as I wrote about it in my highs and lows. We experienced this in all 3 character meals though so I wouldn't worry about. It could happen any where just depends who are sat near you.

We have been to cafe Mickey 5-6 times and have always had a good time. Have seen a huge range of characters. Our last trip was our first lunch and we did feel we had more time with the characters and we saw all but mickey twice.

We ate in cafe mickey in 2010 and 2011 - both times around 6pm. Both times we saw Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip, Dale, Tigger and Eeyore. The first time we also saw Gepetto and Captain Hook and the 2nd time we saw Jessie and Pinocchio. Some of the more recent reports don't seem to have so many characters now which is a shame.

Thanks for that - yes we've only been in Sept 2012, Dec 2013, March 2014 and only seen a maximum of 5 characters!

I've decided this trip to return to Cafe Mickey (have a first time 8 year old with us and we're going to go down the birthday cake route) and think we'll do an evening meal (have been for lunch and breakfadt before). It's more for just a bit of fun and while 80% of our party know the characters are there, the others don't know :)

(Though the girls are also being surprised with Auberge, and one will have no idea about what happens in there either *grins*)

When we had dinner there in January we saw Pluto, Goofy, Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse and Tigger. With Minnie visiting our table three times. But I preferred the time we had Lunch there on a previous trip was the restaurant was quieter and the characters seemed to stay longer at your table.
