Can you tell I've been reading and planning our meals today??? :rotfl:

Anyway, again I was looking at the brochure and was inspecting the half board meal plans page, along with the meals with characters page to try and make sure we get the most of our half board vouchers.

We've paid for half board plus and couldn't decide between Cafe Mickey and Lucky Nugget Saloon, but looking at the cost they both cost the same, however according to their brochure you can use half board plus vouchers to pay for your full meal at Lucky Nugget Saloon but not at Cafe Mickeys??? :confused3 Is that right? And can anyone tell me how they work that out? I really wanted to do Cafe Mickeys but if we're going to have to pay extra when the value is just the same as Lucky Nugget and our vouchers will cover that it seems a bit of a waste of money.

It because Cafe Mickey isn't a buffet, Lucky Nugget is.
So whatever you order from the Cafe Mickey menu, you'll get a bill for, then your face value of your half board plus voucher will be taken off the bill, and you'll have the remainder to pay.

Well that's what I thought originally but it says in the book

Meal with characters at Cafe Mickey - cost £21 adult £11 child
Buffet with characters at Lucky Nugget - cost £21 adult £11 child

So that's what confused me as I thought with Cafe Mickey the price was dependant on what you ate? But according to the magazine that is the price, so if both cost exactly the same, I don't understand why you can pay for one with half board vouchers and not the other?

I see what you mean - I believe the £21 meal at Cafe Mickey is a set menu.
I don't know why, but I'd agree, on the face of it, using your half board plus voucher would be of more value at the Lucky Nugget, if you can't use it in Cafe Mickey for the entire price of the set menu there.

Thanks Elaine, glad it's not just me, thought I was missing something there :confused3

Not sure what to do now though  really wanted to go to Cafe Mickey but want to make sure I get my value for money ;) :rotfl: Ach well I've got almost 5 months to decide :rotfl:

When we went in March we went to both lucky nugget and Cafe Mickey. I would definitely recommend both but felt that cafe mickey was a better 'meal'. Although the food was lovely in lucky nugget and great character interaction it's a bit more bitty because its a buffet. However, if you intend to eat in the evening it would probably be best to eat at cafe mickey because it is open later as it is in the village.

Also, (sorry so seem to be going on a bit lol) we found that we didn't really end up paying that much more in cafe mickey as we didn't have a three course, just had a main meal and a pudding, but we did have alcohol!!! Ooops, forgot to mention we had half board plus vouchers too!!

Hope that helps and was understood :rotfl:

We used our half board plus vouchers in C Mickey. We had a salad main and the cafe gourmand which added up to €25 - the cash equivalent of the vouchers. We only had to pay for drinks and the excess on DDs meal as the childrens meals are more expensive than the amount allowed per voucher

Thanks that's great. I thought Cafe Mickey would be better due to the whole buffet thing. I found with the tea party at Plaza Gardens the last time, someone had to miss a few of the characters as they had to queue for the buffet and it was quite difficult manuevering with trays and kids and characters all over the place. At least with Cafe Mickey you don't need to worry if you're gonna drop a plate on the Sherrif's feet

That's good that it didn't work out too much more. I think oh will probably have a drink or two, but I don't drink so don't need to worry too much about that, and we'll probably only have 2 courses as well.

Do you know where they brochure could be getting their prices from then? Could that maybe be a different menu?

Thanks this is all good to know. If you don't mind me asking, can you remember how much more the children's meals are? Just roughly, obviously I don't need exact figures :rotfl: I'm not quite that bad yet lol

I cant remember exactly but I think it was about €16 - I have the menu upstairs so could check exactly if you wanted. That included a main course a dessert and I think a drink

You have gone crazy - but its a harmless kind of crazy :lmao: :lmao: !

Thanks guys that's great. OH thinks I've gone crazy planning our meals 5 months in advance :rotfl:

:rotfl: Since booking our next trip - all i cant think about is food and where we're going to eat!!

I keep thinking about where we're going to eat next time as well - the only problem is we dont even have a trip booked

I don't know if my oh sees it as harmless, his ear's taking quite a bashing :rotfl:

It's this place  honestly I come on here before I go to bed at night and I end up dreaming about DLP. I wake up in the morning and talk to the kids about DLP over brekkie, then while I'm getting on with the housework I start thinking about where we can eat, how we can fit the shows in, what we need to see that we didn't last time, then I write it all down so I don't forget, then I come on here and talk about it some more and so it begins again and continues like that :lmao:

Agreed, the DIS does funny things to your head if you spend long enough on here. I based an entire example of in my essay on booking trips to DLRP. That would be fine if I was doing a leisure / travel & tourism degree, but I'm not - it's a specialist computer science one!

:lmao: that just shows how much you think of Disney :lmao:

what characters do you get in the lucky nugget? do you need to prebook this as with cafe mickey?

It varies which characters you get - theres no guarantee at all. Its worth booking if you really want to go especially if the park is busy
