Cafe Mickey Characters

Hi all,

This may be wishful thinking but I was wondering whether there was any logic or planning with regards to which characters are seen at Cafe Mickey.

I've seen a discussion on here about the 'theme' for the Inventions brunch every week, which makes sense as it's only once a week and there's time for DLP to prepare.

I'm not talking about a theme as such, but could you contact City Hall on the day of arrival and find out which characters would be in Cafe Mickey each night that week for example?

Has anyone tried it? Anyone fancy asking in the next month or so (if you're going obviously!!)? lol

I doubt they would give up the info. :worried:

During our June trip, City Hall canceled our pre-scheduled private tour, twice. It was planned again for the next day (and did happen that time) but after the second canceling, they offered us free pin vouchers, and VIP seating for the parades and Dreams. We said that was lovely, but would they perhaps just be able to tell us where we might find some characters for the day, the ones not scheduled that just show up.
And it was like pulling teeth...lol..they had to ask 4 other people if it was ok, then call the 'character office'...then look through a list, all huddled together. They then allowed us to know where we could find 4 non listed characters. And while we were very happy to find them, City Hall really would have preferred just giving us the vouchers. :rotfl2:

So while it doesn't hurt to ask...after our experience, I'd say they won't say.

Lol blimey!

I was hoping there might be some sort of order to which characters were in Cafe Mickey, but that might be wishful thinking! lol

There's does seem to be a fairly consistent list of characters though if that helps you narrow down whether to visit or not.
I've always seen:
Minnie, Mickey, Pluto, Goofy
I've often seen:
Tigger, Captain Hook, Smee, Rabbit (From Winnie the Pooh)
I've rarely seen:
Stitch, Piglet, Tweedledum & Tweedledee, Eeyore, Chip & Dale.

Its not an exhaustive list though and is for mostly off peak visits, midweek in January, March, May, October and November.

That's interesting!

We've only been twice but...
Both times we saw:
Mickey, Minnie, Pluto & Tigger
One time we saw Eeyore and other time was Goofy.

I saw someone on Twitter with pictures of Baloo there!!

Its totally subjective isn't it!
Stitch seemed to be a regular at one point but haven't seen him there in ages now. Oh i forgot Friar Tuck too. Often seen him & he's like Baloo, just hilarious! He was doing the macarena & gangnam style the last time we went!
I don't think we ever met Donald there and you'd imagine being fab 5 he'd be hanging out there the whole time! He must feel like billy no mates.

I've met some brilliant characters in Cafe Mickey for dinner over the years, but it does seem to be a very regular cast these days (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and then a random other 2 from a small pool). Its a shame, we always used to spend a couple of hours in there, just waiting to see who would come out next :).

I think my faves over the years have been Genie (he was doing magic tricks with the kids around the tables) Stitch (my DD always has something Stitch or Angel on her person at DLP), and Goofy from one of our first visits (he wrote a personal message in DD's autograph book when she had her birthday cake brought out to her there).

And of course, I can't see Eeyore without wanting to cuddle him to death :lovestruc (his little raincloud signature is incredibly cute).

Awww so cool. DH would love to meet Baloo!! And I love Friar Tuck. Poor old Donald is VERY difficult to find!!

Genie??! Amazing! And I'm desperate to meet Stitch! lol Goofy was funny when we were there - he started messing about with the till, and DD HAD to tell on him to Minnie, Pluto and our Waiter!! lol

We met Eeyore on our first visit when DD was only 2 1/2 and he was perfect - got amazing pics of him and her cuddling!!!

Not done any signatures yet - waiting for DD to be a bit older - just meeting them is enough for her at the moment!!

We've met Donald at Cafe Mickey on several occasions. Always really funny as well.
Also Geppetto on a few occasions...
Additional to the ones people have mentioned we've met Rabbit once and I think that covers it!
Breakfast we have also met Chip and Dale but never seen them at Dinner.

We've met Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Mr.Smee.

And we've met Donald in various places on our last year's trip ;) In hotels morning meet'n'greet, in Inventions Sunday brunch, in park where parades start...

We've had Pinocchio, Chip and Dale, Smee, Eeyore, Goofy, Mickey, Tigger, Baloo, Geppetto, Pluto....I'll edit if I remember more!

Edit: Friar Tuck!

We've only ever met the Fab 5, once with Gepetto and another time with Chip and Dale. We've gone a few times in the past year, and that's all we've ever seen (even when just walking to and fro from the parks to hotel.

But we've had loads of luck elsewhere...especially at the stairs in the DLH. :goodvibes

DH just had a thought - both times we've been to Cafe Mickey we've gone in for an early ish dinner (6.15pm). Could it be that because of the timing we've met more 'young child' friendly characters? Do the characters change throughout the evening or is it the same 5 characters all night?

if theres only 5 characters, then its the same 5 characters there all evening long I'm afraid.

Strange, last time in November we had minnie, mickey, Donald, daisy, goofy, Pluto ( who while trying to look like he was giving my 2 year old a kiss actually looked like he was trying to eat his head lol) rabbit, eeyore, Winnie the Pooh, tigger, and I think a couple more, would need to look at the photos again, we stayed there almost 2 hours and were booked in from6.30pm if that make any difference. I know we had heaps more character interaction there than inventions so have decided not to bother with inventions when we go ago this nov, will probably do cafe mickey twice, but only if the first night is as good as it was last nov, its a cheap night as we only buy a pizza to share and a portion of chips. Its plenty for us, the wee one gets a free bowl of pasta has about 2 forkfuls of it then sees the characters and that it,he eats no more, kneels on his seat patiently waiting his turn for them to come over lol
