my Verizon cable is creeping higher and higher. I'm just wondering how budget conscious people handle cable, phone and internet. I don't need much for a land line as we use it less and less with and our cells more and more. We definitly need reliable internet and I was wondering if something like dish network would be cheaper. Just looking for ideas, tired of the intro rate ending and having to haggle.

I found it was less for me to not bundle:

Cable, Comcast $12.60 (basic, around 100 channels, no digital box)

Internet, Comcast $42.95 (super fast & reliable)

Phone, Verizon $32.95 (basic + caller id, no long distance). This is the least I could get it, probably going to cancel the caller id, $10 to see who's calling??? Not really worth it for me.

I use a store bought calling card for long distance, about $10 per year.

I looked into the comcast voice, but you have to rent the modem from them, you can't purchase it outright like the modem I have now. So it would turn out to be more than verizon.

we have had cable for years and Each year (about 3 weeks ago actually) I call and say,m hey, I am NOT paying for the regular rates and they ALWAYS get me back to their original 3/130 promo...so I am a Happy Clam about that...they also only charge 14.95 for an extra phone line.....works for me/us:thumbsup2

We don't have cable at all. We just watch broadcast TV,and that as little as possible, as we find it to be a giant waste of time. We have a land line and use that as much as possible, and prepaid cell phones for emergency use only. Any cell plan we could get would cost far more than the landline and the tracfones.

be careful when signing up with Dish Network bundle department for internet and phone. We were linked to Embarq (Century Link) and they didn't tell us everything correctly. They told us our bill would be $29.95 plus taxes and fees. Well, when our first bill came in it was for a lot more than $29.95
That was just for the phone I thought they said that was for internet too...they never told me internet was an extra $19.95. Plus cost of $30 for equipment charges. Then the taxes and fees add up to $31!!!

The Dish network for tv was accurate - that is $47 per month no movie channels (we save $26month for the first year).

We don't have cable in the traditional sense - we have Comcast's basic antenna service because we get no channels where we are. We spend $12.00 a month for that and have our phone/DSL through Verizon for $55.00 a month. Way cheaper than the either Comcast's or Verizon's "triple play" options.

basic comcast for 12.60!!! are you lucky!!! Our basic for Comcast is nearly $54 before tax!! That is why I have Century Link bundle that has Dish for my TV.

I have Time Warner basic cable modem and when the guy installed the cable he put a splitter so I get limited free cable channels to the tv near my modem.

I pay 29.99 for cable/tv and have netflix streaming through PS3 for 8.99 a month. If there is something that I miss live I wait for it to hit hulu or the network website.

I cant justify paying for something I wont use that much. Plus with netflix I watch past seasons of tv shows without commercials. I cant fathom paying ~$100 a month to watch commercials.

I dont have a home phone either I have a Net10 phone which costs about $10 a month.

We had Time Warner until Comcast bought them out  Time Warner had much cheaper rates. That was when I switched to Sprint, that was bought out by Embarq, that has now been bought out by Century Link. I pay $148 with tax for local phone, high speed DSL, and 200 channel Dish Network package.

Thanks for the input, need to weigh out all my options and figure out the best plan:)
