Cable Question

So, my husband suggested that I post out here in the hopes that someone like Bama Ed would know the answer to my question. The thing that was so funny to me is that he isn't on the DIS but he's heard me talking about it enough that he knows who some of the "characters" are, lol!

Anyway, we are going to be tent camping right across the Olympics. DH suggested bringing a small tv to plug in and try to catch up at night before we crash on the events and medals. We did this several years ago, but were staying at Caribbean Beach so it was much easier! I guess I need to know what kind of cable I need to have to be able to hook up a tv on a 1500 or 2000 loop site?

Thank you all in advance- because I know one of you has the answer I need!

Well, I'm not BamaEd :sad2:, but a standard coax cable is what the hookups are at the site. I would suggest a 20' cable to ensure enough length as they can vary from site to site.

Bama Ed don't know squat.

He hasn't taken his tv to the Fort in years.

But there is a coax connection on the utility stump.

Coax cable. You may need to get a black box from the tradding post to make it work as well. We had to get one this week for we had video but no sound on our TVs. It's basically a small cable box. We were told not everyone needs one tho. Just some older TVs and weird TVs.

Not so fast there Tigger! My 20' foot coax wasn't nowhere near long enough, had to make a Wal-Mart run and picked up a 50 footer, the 1400 loop is different from every other loop I've stayed in, the other loops have a tree trunk looking hook up station mid way down the site, the site here in 1400 have a metal post way at the back, and my cable hook up is at the front of my 5er.... of course Tiggerdad or Ed will be back later to disclose the length of my 5er...

Elianor, depending on what type of rig you have 20 foot my not be long enough, better safe than sorry hate to see you make a walmart run in all the Orlando traffic.

Yeah, Randy has a point. Better go for the 50 footer.

Oh, thank you all so much! We will pick up a 50 footer, just to be on the safe side. Our "rig" consists of two modern tents and a minivan this trip...although we did take our medieval 12 foot canvas pavilion one year which was lovely. That only works, however, with just our crew of four...this year we have a friend and her daughter along so we have to go with more modern gear for space reasons. I thank you all for your answers! We don't usually carry a tv either, but with the Olympics going on, we do like to keep up with a few events and our country.

Bama Ed knows all the Fort secrets is what I've heard! Squat indeed!

Thanks, you guys rock!
