Cable, DSL or Wireless?

My wife and I are both getting A Citrix system at work. What this means is that we can remotely access the entire workplace network. However, my good old dial-up does not have enough speed to handle the Citrix system, so I am forced to upgrade. So between Cable, DSL or Wireless, which should I choose? :confused3 I am in a small town and using a local internet provider company, so if I go with Cable, I will have to change my E mail. Any suggestions?

We love our Cable Modem, and all our computers are hooked up to be wireless..It's so nice to be able to take the laptop where ever I want..

I love Love LOVE my cable modem, It's AWSOME!!

Cable is working super for me. We have Cox and the service has been very good. Depending on the cable co. YMMV :)

Had cable and it was awful. I upgraded to DSL and it's much faster for me. DSL depends on where you live.

Fiber optic dsl, faster than my cable was and $5/month cheaper

We have cable, and then the cable box is hooked up to a wireless router. Our laptops are wireless, so we can move around the house with them.

If you do go wireless, be sure to ENCRYPT your router. Otherwise anyone within a certain radius from your house can pick up your signal.

Adelphia Cable here and love it. No experience with DSL. HATE, HATE, Hate, and did I mention I HATE, dial-up?

I too have cable internet. It is wonderful. At first it was picky on whether it would work that day or not. But I haven't had a problem in many years now.

DSL is faster than dialup but it is not faster than cable internet. Just so you know...DSL is still using a phone line. The speed of DSL also depends on how far you are from the central office. So I would go with cable internet, especially if you already have cable television.

(Btw...I didn't just make this stuff up...I actually have a degree in this)

Anyone have Mediacom calble Internet? That is my cable provider

I have Mediacom internet and it works fine.....the whole house is on a wireless router so it is nice to be able to move around with the laptops or rearrange my office without worrying about the cable.

DSL over fiber optic lines does go faster than cable (packages are 5 Mbps/15 Mpbs/30 Mpbs). Granted, not your standard DSL, but at least in my area it's becoming widely available for a price that puts it cheaper than cable.

With the 5 Mbps, I get about 5.25 meg actually. Cable here advertises 4 meg, but really I only got about 2. Either way, faster and cheaper. But, of course, it requires fiber optic lines.

This is where I'd go dsl instead :teeth:

I'm wondering when Broadband Over Power Line will come out :rolleyes1 it was talked about a year or so ago, but I haven't heard anything about it since then :guilty:

I have DSL with a wireless router at home and my work laptop will not connect to the company network, I have to dialup from home. I have used it in hotel rooms and airport wireless with no problem, so it's not the laptop itself but I guess something with the DSL configuration.

We have cable (Comcast) and wireless (Airport Extreme on Mac Powerbooks, iBook and a very old imac in DD's room that works very well with an airport card).
