Hi! I couldn’t find a general thread for the cabins unless I’m completely blind so sorry if this is in the wrong place. I have some questions about the cabins. We’re planning to go sometime in April or may this year for our son’s first birthday.

Should we put his car seat on the golf cart or just hold him on our lap?

Do the cabins have a crib in them already? I read somewhere about there being one in the closet but I want to make sure.

We want the quietest area possible (for naps and bedtime). Which loop is best for that?

How are they distancing on the boats? I doubt we’ll get on one because we’ll have our own car but I was curious.

Anything else I should know about taking a little one to the fort?

This is the place to ask any questions about the fort. :)

I can help with some of your questions.
I wouldn't put a car seat on the golf cart because there is no way to hook it down.
There was a pack and play in the closet when we last stayed at the cabins. If there isn't one, call housekeeping and they will bring one.
For peace and quiet, you would want to be further away from the bus stops. When we stayed in 2500 loop, the bus stop was right behind our cabin and you could hear the buses beeping when they stopped there.
I have not been recently so I don't know what's going on with the boats. We are going in June. Personally I will be more comfortable on the boat than a bus because of the open air on the boat.

Hello and welcome! They are doing a good job on social distancing the transportation to and from the parks. Along with the boat to the Magic Kingdom there is also a bus that runs from the Settlement internal bus depot (up near the marina) to the Magic Kingdom. If you weren't aware, there is an internal bus system that also runs between the various loops so if you don't rent a golf cart, you can still get around.

As far as cabin recommendations, as G719 said, I'd request to be away from the bus stops and also away from the quiet pool.

Thanks for the response! So you think it’s safe enough to just hold him on our laps?

As far as the boats, it would just be for fun and not really for transportation. Dh is leaning towards no but we may decide to try it if people are spaced out

Do you have to call to make the requests for cabin location?

I used a baby carrier to strap little one to me on the golf cart. Another tip is if you want a life vest for the pool, they had the 1 year old size stashed away when we were there in 2017 and had to ask a lifeguard. The kids' splash ground is a lot of fun and my kids always loved seeing the horses at that age. Boats weren't crowded in November, but we rode at odd times. Not sure about rope drop and closing time. The fort is such a great place at that age. I have been there various times with my kids, starting at 20 months and on the last trip my oldest was almost 5.

If you are just riding the boat for fun, we went 2 or 3 hours before closing and were the only family on the boat (on a Nov. Sunday night).

There should be some options in online check-in but I'd suggest calling and asking them to put a note on there. Worst case if you get there and don't like where they put you, just go back up and ask for a different location. Unless they're packed they should be more than happy to help.

Oh using a carrier is a good idea! I didn’t think about that. We sometimes carry him on our front facing out. I’ll have to add that to our packing list. He’s never worn a life vest but it would be nice to have so we don’t have to hold him the whole time. Do they allow small baby tubes? He has one where he can lay on his stomach but I don’t think they allow tubes.

I’m really excited about the horses and the splash pad! I think he’ll love both. I loves playgrounds too and we plan to bring our bikes and bike trailer. That’s good to know about the boats. Maybe we’ll go down there around that time and see if anyone else is waiting to get on

Yes you should call to make a request. The online check in doesn’t have a good request section. We did like the 2500 loop because it was close to the quiet pool which is also where the the closest laundry facilities are. We were close to the loop entrance and that‘s why we heard the busses all the time.

It would be fine to hold the baby on the cart but a carrier is a good idea too.

The only boat currently running is the "big" boat to MK. They did a very good job with social distancing on the boat with seats taped off. The boats also have benches outside on the bow and stern.

I always use the boat to get to MK. If you drive to MK, you will be riding the monorail or ferry to get from the parking lot to MK anyway. The MK boat from the Fort is much faster and a lot more fun. I think you will be comfortable on the boat, especially with the ability to sit outside.

I totally forgot we’d have to take the ferry anyway if we drive to mk. Dh isn’t fully on board with going in a park yet so that might not happen. That’s why I was saying we may ride a boat just for fun one of our days.

how safe would he be in a carseat that is not secured to golf cart as there are not latches or seatbelts. if you would use carseat most likely would have to fit on backseat of cart but again no seatbelts. and as others say you would have to take either the monorail or ferry from parking lot at MK. you talk about splash pad you will have to use either a golf cart or a bus as that pool is not walking distance from cabins. and most likely you will not have it to yourselves. it is a fenced in area and not that big if I remember correctly so it could be crowded. and the boat dock is not walking distance from most of cabins and no car parking in that area

We wouldn’t just sit the car seat on the golf cart lol. We would attach it with ratchet straps. We watched a video of someone who did it that way.

will say it is not as easy as it looks and most likely not fit beside you in front. also if it rains while cart is parked seat will be soaked as carts seats are not protected from rain. plus wont say it will happen but cart parking is not watched by a CM and carts are open so your seat could walk away. I would not leave anything in view that should not walk away.

Over New Years, the boats were not very full and very nicely distanced. We were kind of wary of being at Disney in general, but didn't feel crowded anywhere. Even on the buses, during that time, we were alone or with only another party most of the time at off times. The boats are open air (they had the old school flatter and more open ones in use as well) and the front and back are very pleasant spaces to just enjoy. We only used them for fun too. The playground by the beach area can get crowded at times but there are smaller ones throughout the campground so look for those. They've placed tables with umbrellas in the splash pad area so get there a little early so you can get one. They were monitoring capacity at the pool entrances to keep it from getting too crowded.

Thanks for the tips! If anything looks too busy to us we’ll just skip it. It’s not a big deal. It’s honestly just a chance to be away from home for a few days. As of right now he’s still taking two naps so I don’t see us staying anywhere too long anyway
