Cabin Pros and Cons

Thanks for telling us about your stay in the cabins. Our next trip we are not going to stay at the Fort and it's really weird because I'd love to stay in a cabin but the price is too much after enjoying $34 a night rates at a campsite. It seems like it was around $120 the last time I checked out cabin rates. Do you mind if I ask what rate you guys had to pay for this lower season? And did you get a AAA rate? We've considered doing the 2 rooms at a value thing but there's a suite just outside the back gate that's not much more than a value and it includes a full breakfast. It will definitely be weird not staying on property, though.

Nope, we didn't do AAA. We aren't members. I would be interested to see how much cheaper it is though!

I enjoyed your review! Thank you! We stayed in the cabins in December so it was interesting to see what you thought of it. I thought the bed in the bedroom was heavenly! Just perfect! But I agree that the murphy bed wasn't very comfortable. Luckily my son liked it there and never complained.

We paid $189 in value season for the cabin (including tax) with the AP discount in case anyone is interested.

We came back Feb. 5th from a 6 night stay at FW Cabins and also really enjoyed it there. For anyone interested the AP rate was $169.00 for this time period.

We will definetly stay here again someday. It was our first time at FW and we enjoyed it a bunch. The kids really enjoyed the pony rides, beach area, playground, and riding around in our golf cart! :)

We also like the peace and quiet of the cabins with no noise from surrounding rooms. We really enjoyed the large deck and picnic table. We b-b-q's two nights on our deck which was alot of fun and a treat to us since at home we haven't been able to eat outside for months. :)

We are used to DVC units with a washer/dryer and that is the only thing I missed with the cabins. I always intended to go over to the cs to do laundry but never found the time with all the fun and activities we were doing. At DVC it is so easy just to throw a load in before we go out in the morning.

You get a 10% discount. We booked through a AAA travel agent, but need to show our card at check-in to get the discount. It will save us approx $300 for our 8-day cabin rental. We are going at peak time as DS10 can't miss a week of school at this juncture. Our trip is at the height of Spring Break, so the savings really helps.

We are also planning to rent a boat, and the AAA card gets you 10% off watercraft as well. I just learned that recently on the boards!

You don't need a AAA travel agent to get the AAA rates. You can even ask for them yourself. You MUST show your card though at check in so don't forget it!

We were at FW from April 15-21 in our RV. We would love to go again, but DH says he hated towing the RV down there (PA to FL) and would rather stay at a hotel. We also have 4 kids (sons 7 & 8, daughters 12 & 15), so I really like the idea of staying in a cabin because we loved FW. Do you think we would be too cramped in a cabin or would 2 rooms somewhere else be better? As far as the bathroom issue, I'm sure the bathroom is bigger than the one in the RV!!

Well, the cabin is nice because you have a living area and kitchen, but two rooms are nice because you have two bathrooms. It is a trade off. We loved the campground but we are doing two value rooms next time.

Ah the bathroom issue with multiple teens - especially the DD's. That's why we stay off-site in a pool home with 4bdrs/4bths for much less than a FW cabin or even two value rooms. I'd definitely stay on-site if it were only the wife and I, but with 5 or 6 of us WDW accomodations are way to cramped unless you spend a medium fortune for a DVC condo. Five or six people sharing one or even two bathrooms ain't my idea of a vacation.

Offsite is nice, even if you don't have a lot of kids!

A townhouse in Windsor Hills or Windsor Palms offsite is going to be a whole lot less than a cabin, and you get a full kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, KING beds (most owners have), splash pool. From that location the drive is very fast, not really any longer than driving from FW, depending on where you are going.

If you're used to an RV, the cabins are perfect. I just think they're rather pricey. We love the fort, even in our little popup, but offsite has benefits too.
