I have cabin 8540 cat 4 booked for an upcomming eastern cruise and I am wondering if I should change it. Apparently our ship is not that full so I can change.

Here is my dilemma. I have 2 teenage DD's and wonder if there is enough room with me and my DH OR should I change to 2 ajoining rooms (cat 6 or 7)??

Those of you with teenage daughters should know what I mean about the room they need for the bathroom and clothes etc...

I have tried to get the cat 3 but it is on the wait list.

I just want all of us to have the best experience ever on our first cruise!
Any help would be appreciated.:D

I can't speak to how much room teenage daughters need, but the cost of two connecting category 6 or 7 rooms vs. one category 4 room is likely to be twice as much, if not more. If money is no object, then the connecting rooms are probably the way to go. However, with each room, the first two passengers are charged the adult fare, so if you book two rooms, you will be paying four adult fares, as opposed to 2 adults, two children.

One thought would be if one is at least 18 you could book one cat. 7 (or six) and then book the INSIDE cabin across the hall for the daughters (cat. 11 I believe) that would be much more reasonable. However, if money is not an issue than I would just go ahead and book connecting cat. 6's, although if I were rich that cat. 3 would be my first choice !

Actually, there is no difference between the adult fare and the teen fare. Fares for adults and teens are the same.

But there is a big difference between the 1st/2nd passenger fare and the 3rd/4th/5th passenger fare.

The 1st/2nd passenger fare is higher, and is based on double occupancy. The 1st/2nd passenger fare is not affected by the age of the passenger.

The 3rd/4th/5th passenger fare is for additional passengers. Children (but not teens) pay less than the adult 3rd/4th/5th passenger fare.

Hi minimouse 43,

I (19) was in cabin 8526 or 8826 (i can't remember which one, but I remember that it was two down from either the Roy of Walt Suite) with my Mom, Nana and Sister and we had plenty of room. Note: 4 women in a cabin. I guess it depends on how well your daughters get along together. At times, I guess it could get a little "friendly", but it worked out well.

One suggestion, if you have a room with the bunk bed, that saves a lot of room!

Hope that helps

I just had a cat 5 for DH, myself and our DD's ages 18 and 21. I was also nervous that we'd be killing one another before the end of the week.

It worked out quite well. I brought earplugs for everyone to avoid the "YOU SNORE!!!!!!!!!!!" fights.

We brought plenty of extra hangers and there was room in the closet for everything. The girls split the drawer space and the shelves. DH and myself split the dresser adjacent to the closet.

It wasn't bad at all. :D

Thanks so much for the responses! I think I will wait to ask for the ajoining rooms when we check in at the port. Hopefully it might be a little cheaper? I called DCL and they said if the ship is not full I could upgrade to the ajoining rooms.
BTW....It is less money to book 2 rooms then to get the cat 3, (at least it was the day I called, they told me the prices change all the time)!
Thanks for all the help!

I wouldn't hold out out too much hope for adjoing rooms at port check-in. Adjoining rooms are very popular and tend to sell out fast. If you really prefer adjoining rooms I would get them now while they are available and avoid disappointment at the port.

We have had hubby, me, and THREE TEENS ages 16, 15 and 12 in a Cat 4 and had no space issues. My son is 6'1" and my teen girls pack tons of stuff.

You should be fine with 4 people in a Cat 4.

There will be 4 of us in a Cat 4. DH, DD 16, DS 14 and myself. As it gets closer I was beginning to worry if it was going to be too 'close'.

I did consider adjoining rooms in another cat but we really love the verandah (especially my DH). I'm happy to hear that it wasn't too crowded.

dvcreg...I never thought of earplugs ....they block the sound but were they comfortable to sleep in?

mmouse37...did the person who slept in the pull-down sleep ok?

Thanks everyone!
