Cabin Deck Lights Questions

We will be staying at the Ft. for the first time in 9 days. We're planning to bring some lights to decorate our deck. I basically have two questions.

1. What are the "rules"/"guidelines" for leaving the lights on? We'd be gone to the parks all day, but it would be nice to come back to the cabin with the deck lights blazing. I would never do this it home, so I'm wondering how this works at the Ft.

2. Where is/are the outlet(s) for plugging in the lights? I'm wondering if I'll need to bring an extension cord.

Thanks in advance for your answers! We can't wait to get there!

As far as #1 is concerned, there are a lot of folks that leave lights on all day at the cabins and campsights. That being said, I always bring an extension cord (outdoor approved) and a timer, like the black ones meant for outdoor Christmas lights. That way I can set them on a timer to be on by dusk and go off whenever I want, typically 11 or 12 at night. In that way I'm not wasting electricity by having them on all the time, and I can leave them on when I go to bed but they will still go off on their own.

I can't directly answer #2, but like I mentioned above, I'd bring an extension cord or two.

No flames please, but we leave our deck lights on during the day while we're gone, so they'll be on when we get back home at night. It's so much fun to come "home" to such a warm sight. :goodvibes

There is a plug outside on the deck, so it's easy to get everything plugged in. Just make sure that all your lights and any extension cords are weather-worthy.

Al Gore called me when he read this and said I should pass on his message - you are a major contributor to global warming, which will ultimately kill the tourist industry in Florida since everyone will be able to stay in Pennsylvania for all the warmth and sunshine in the winter.

Hey - at least we recycle all our beer cans and wine bottles! ;)

As cold as it has been, I am putting an urgent alert out ordering all campers to leave ALL outside lights on 24/7 until this mini ice age ends and global warming returns!!!

(at least until I am there in June and start griping about it being too hot, then I am gonna start fussing at all a ya'll for leaving them on TOO much and making me hot)

More available room at the FORT & WDW for us. Keep the lights on.

We will be arriving at the Fort on Jan. 25 and will be decorating for Mardi Gras.
We are from Louisiana where it is a really big deal. That means alot of purple, gold, and green colors. We are also using some decorations on the golf cart so it will be easily identified. Have fun.

Beer gives you gas, which also contributes to global warming.

Al is going to be calling Jim again.

Al is coming over to the house tonight to discuss global warming issues, and how the recent cold snap can be spun into the whole mess.

You definitely will want an extension cord. The plug for our cabin was near the front door, so we had to string lights past the back door (which we didn't use anyway, so no big deal). Next time we will remember an extension cord.
We also leave ours on. But ours are LED, so Al Gore wrote us a letter and said it was okay.

We brought a set of lights and a small, 5 ft. outdoor extension cord. The outlet is in the middle of the wall, so you have to stretch the wire past the bedroom door. We never used the bedroom door so it didn't create an issue for us.

All this talk about extention cords and global warming !! PEOPLE, why cant we all just get along and go fishing ????
