HI everyone,

This will be a review of the cabin and of FW. The rest of the WDW trip will be on the trip report pages.

Currently, there is a deal to save 30% at FW or 40% at a villa during certain time periods if you book before you leave. I can scan the info for you if you PM me.

We arrived at Orlando airport around 10am. We got a rental car from Alamo and off we went to the Publix on International Drive. It was new and had everything. We got a cheap cooler and put all of our cold stuff in it. We arrived at FW before noon and were hoping for an early check in.....Lucky us, we got one. :cool1:
We were in 2605. This was my third time in that loop. I was hoping for something else but since it was available I wasn't going to complain. :thumbsup2

Here is some general information....
The TV channels stink. Bring DVD's for the little ones. The Disney cartoons that used to be on are no longer. Just the usual Disney channel offerings.

The top bunk is extremely uncomfortable. Hard as a rock. OK for a kid but not so much for an adult. The rest of the mattresses were new and comfortable.
I have a bad back and I can't complain.

There isn't much room of clothes. I recommend getting more hangers and hang your clothes up. Also, we stored our luggage under the dining table bench.

The pool was heated and warm. My son desperately wanted to swim and we did at 7pm and about 60 degrees F. It was crazy cold getting out.

The beach was great. They have hammocks now. And some big Tonka trucks for the kids to play with. My son really enjoyed that. We also saw the fireworks from there. It was a perfect way to end the day. No big rush to catch a bus.

The petty zoo has some of the friendliest animals. :)

We saw plenty of wild life....
My DH saw an otter and bald eagle while fishing on the channel near the dam. Oh by the way...he didn't catch anything with lures. Next year it will be shiners. He did fish on Lake Toho near Kissimmee. He was able to pull in an 8 pound bass. :woohoo: Pm me if you want the name of the guide he used.

We also saw alot of deer, bunny's and armadillos. We had a blast looking for animals with my son.

It looks like most of the clearing is done. Only a few spots had standing water.

Everyone was very friendly. The staff was great. We really love staying here. It is very relaxing after a day at the parks. Next year we will stay for 6 nights and give us one more day to enjoy FW.

Thank You for sharing your trip. I enjoy FW for the same reason. It can be so very relaxing after a day in the park.

Thanks for sharing your trip report, sounds like you guys had a blast! Interesting to hear about the hard top bunk, will have to check that out next time we stay at a cabin.

Also congrats to your son on that 8 pound bass ;)

Skyw - - - Glad you had such a wonderful time!

I had to laugh about your son getting out of the heated pool to the "crazy cold" air! A lot of northerner's don't understand that it does get cold in Florida! I live 25 miles west of the Fort & we will be getting into the 30's tonight with a light frost warning. I don't care where you're from... that's cold!! :rotfl:

Actually, because of the high humidity, when the temps drop below 70 in Fla, it just plain feels colder than the same temp in the northern climate! And even though I've lived in Florida since 1973, I grew up in WNY & am very acquainted with snow & cold!!! (That's why I live in Fla!!:thumbsup2 )

Anyhow - - welcome to the "Otter-Spotter" Club! Glad to have ya!!:woohoo:

Des 1954... Yeah, I know people think it is warm in the winter. I was once one of those fools who didn't bring any warm clothes to the Keys in Nov. I froze at night. Thankfully, the pools are heated at Disney. I can't imagine the huge dissappointment my son would have had if he saw the pool and couldn't swim.

I grew up in MI until I was 29. Left and never looked back. Indiana is the nearest I want to get to the cold.
