I decided that since I am going as Bella (vampire) for Halloween, I needed a Renesmee.

I had no idea it was that hard to find a Cabbage Patch Kid!

I needed one with silky longish brown hair and eyes.

Ebay sellers want a lot. Amazon you can order them, but you don't know which one you are going to get.

I ended up finding a lot on ebay that had 4 CPK's - one was the one that I was hoping to get - and I will give the others to my grandmother for her toy box.

I didn't know that they were so hard to find! I assumed that since they had been around for so long that they would be everywhere. None in the local thrift stores, and none on craigslist - except the $40 one I found. Even ebay was kind of expensive (I won my lot for $12 shipped - so happy!).

Anyone collect them? Did you have one as a child? Or want one as a child?

I had a little bald boy CPK as a child. I must have known that when I had a real child he would be a bald boy for a while, LOL.

This is the lot I won. My CPK that will be Renesmee is the one with purple stripes on the side of her hair. If I can't get them brown (any ideas how to get them brown??) I will just say that Alice dressed her up for Halloween.

Try garage sales and rummage sales in your area. Any large rummage sale will have a toy section, you'll probably find one there. You might have to be a little less specific tho.

I found one (see link at the end of my post) but I had no idea that people wanted so much for them online. And I looked at yard sales all weekend and our local thrift stores too. Not a one to be found.

I paid $12 shipped for 4 of them, so I don't think that is a horrible deal. Especially when my grandmother can use the other 3 for her toy box at home.

Cabbage Patch kids are highly collectible. There are whole communities on line just for the collection of them. There are some that go for hundreds.

Also, if for some reason you can't use the doll you bought, you should check out this link. They probably have what you need.

See? I had no idea they were that collectible.....

We had 3 new in box - one was a clown that we sold to the neighbor for $10, one was a talking AA doll, the other was a set of newborn twins (the package was opened but the twins were never taken out. The AA and twins we just took to the local auction house. None of them would have worked for my costume anyway.

I am trying to budget the costume as much as possible, so I will find a way to make the doll I purchased work.

I just had no clue that they were so collectible. I hope my check from the auction house reflects how collectible they are! $$$$$

I thought I remember seeing them for sale at Target a while back.

I wanted a CPK for Christmas when I was young, instead I got a baby sister. I was not a happy camper.:rotfl2:

I could, but I wanted to make it as realistic as possible. Dark hair & eyes were necessary.

I even looked at Walmart. Their CPK's were $30, and they only had 3 - none of them would work. And the baby dolls they had would not be realistic - and the cheapest one was $11.

For $12 I got one almost exactly like I wanted (I could have done without the purple hair streaks) so I am happy.
