This is our first Disney cruise, and we are not sailing concierge, so I expected all cabanas to be taken when our booking window opened. That doesn't mean I've given up though! Lol. Plans change all the time so there is a possibility of a cancellation. For those that have been lucky enough to get a cabana, when did you book it? Are cancellations more likely closer to the sail date? Any tips? I keep checking and fingers crossed one will pop up. If not, we're still super excited about Castaway Cay!

I've been on two DCL cruises before and was lucky enough to score a cabana both times. Hoping for the same luck for our upcoming February cruise. The first time I was able to get the cabana about 45 days out and the second time was around 30 days out! Don't give up hope! Good luck!!

Keep checking the website daily as many times a day as possible.
I scored one as a silver member about 5-6 weeks before one of our cruises on The Magic.
Was not able to get one as a gold member on a very full February cruise on The Fantasy.
If you don't get one before the cruise, go to Guest Services as soon as you board and have your name put on the waitlist, I have gotten one that way too on a last minute cruise we took.

Good Luck!

On my cruise this past March, I reserved my cabana in February! As the previous poster said, I checked once or twice a day and the day I got the reservation I had already checked twice that day and nothing but at 10pm that night that changed. I was able to book one of the cabanas on the adult beach. Yea needless to say, I was very happy. I would definitely keep checking as you never know.

Thank you all for your replies! Gives me hope! I will keep checking and if no luck will put my name on the wait list once we board. Fingers crossed!

We are doing our first cruise in March. Since I can't see how to check for a cabana online yet since it's too soon for me, can someone explain how to check availability once my window opens? I know it is a long shot but I will be trying every day, like a good DISer!!

Cabanas are listed under the excursions (Port Adventures tab). On Castaway Cay.

Join your cruise meet page! Have scored because someone posted who wanted it. Also have giving away one that way.

We always sail concerige now and never book a cabana so not everybody grabs one. Keep trying!

Is that done through the DIS? I don't do Facebook...
Dis will have one or you can start it here!

Don't do FB also, but maybe you can have someone do it for you?

It's one of those things you will have to check often from the 120 mark till right before your cruise along with DCL site if you really want one.

Question: when a cabana is available, it will be found listed alphabetically just like all the other excursions?

I have never seen a cabana available, so I didn't know if they were, like, always grouped together at the bottom or top of the list.

Here's what the page looks like (cabanas listed at the end of the alphabetical list by number):

When the cabanas are not sold out, they are in the main list alphabetical order. After Bicycle Rentals and before Castaway Cay Bottom Fishing. When they are sold out, they go to the bottom.

(I managed to get one on Serenity Bay for my upcoming cruise to see what all the fuss is about, and that's where it was. And still is as you can still see it available when YOU have booked it.)

It seems like most stuff "sinks" to the bottom when greyed out and unavailable. So, really, there are two lists: the alphabetical "available" list in regular black text at the top, and the alphabetical "unavailable" list in grey text at the bottom. Is that right?

Yes, that is how I thought it worked.

Thank you both!

I just wanted to post an update to give hope to others who are wanting to rent a cabana....we got one!! Yay!! I have been checking multiple times a day, and today there was one available. We are less than 30 days from our cruise date (and only 15 days until we can finally tell the kids that we're going on a cruise!).
Thank you to everyone for your tips & encouragement to keep looking. It worked
