Cab service to the site?

We stayed this past August for about 8 days. When we make the trip down from MA, we do it in our 31' class C, no toad. In August, we stopped at a Winn Dixie before checking in and began to run out of stuff a few days early. The frozen hamburgers available at the Fort were junk and expensive!

This coming April, we are staying for 13 days and know we will need to hit a market to re-supply. Since having a toad is not an option for us, I am wondering what you guys recommend for getting somewhere to do some groceries about half way through our trip. I have considered just unhooking the RV and driving it to a market, but would rather avoid having to make it ready for travel after we get all settled in and homey inside. It's not the end of the world if that's our only option but I have considered taking a cab as an alternative.

Does anyone know if the cab can drop us off right at our site with all the groceries or will I have to lug it on the bus? Also, any nearby grocery stores recommended and about how much should the cab fare be?

Thanks!

Not sure if you have given this much thought, but have you considered taking transportation to Downtown Disney, and picking up a cab there? From there, it is only a couple of miles to a grocery store on Apopka-Vineland via the Resort Center Dr. entrance. You could do your shopping, return to DTD via cab, and take transportation back to FTW. I would think that, although time consuming, this would be preferable to paying fare all the way from FTW to a grocer and back.

That's actually not a bad idea. I imagine that most of what we will need to re-supply will be just the frozen and perishable stuff so hopefully not a whole lot to carry since we can cram plenty of non-perishable items underneath the coach. Maybe I'll bring a large backpack to help bringing it back.

I'm not sure how much a cab is. But, there is https://www.gardengrocer.com/ they will shop and deliver it to you for a fee. They get good reviews from the camping and resort boards.

Getting back to your OP, I'm almost certain cabs are not allowed to drop you off at your site.

Maligator,

Here is a recent thread about taxi fare from the Fort to a grocery store.

Like chartle says, a taxi would pick you up at the checkin building. You would have to use the internal busses to get back to your site (or walk).

One thing to check with garden grocer or another like wegoshop is what their minimum notification period is. Some of the web sites I've read say they have trouble with near-turn-around orders. They provide a great service especially if it's your arrival day order placed well in advance. If you realize on a Tuesday that you need an item for Wednesday, they may not be able to do that. All I'm saying is check to make sure how much advance notice they require. If it's tight, the taxi might end up being your best option after all.

I had read you sign up for a more like an appointment like 1:00 PM Tuesday. Times that just like ADRs and FP+ can get snapped up weeks in advance.

. . . Does anyone know if the cab can drop us off right at our site with all the groceries or will I have to lug it on the bus? . . .

1) No, the taxi can't go in/thru The Fort.
2) However, the taxi can drop you at The Outpost, instead of the bus stop.
3) Ask the Concierge to grab a bellman and golf-cart you to your site.
4) It could actually end up being a bellman, Front Desk Clerk or Concierge with the cart.
5) There is no charge for the service, but a $3-$5 tip for the transport person.

NOTE: Many, folks use GardenGrocer. They deliver to The Outpost and the
Bellmen put the goodies into the fridge. Bellmen can deliver them later to you.
