considering cab at least to the parks

we have 6 in our party

can you give me a cost estimate, and what time should we leave the resort to get to EPCOT or MK?

Problem with a party of 6 is that you'll require either a) a 7 passenger van, which you have to call ahead for, and I believe the rates are higher, or b) 2 individual cabs and split up the party. For one regular cab you could expect the fare to be under $10 to all the parks except maybe MK, but I cant really give you an idea for a van. Any reason why you wouldnt want to take the WDW buses to their parks? Being at the CBR it wont be a shared bus with another resort, which means the travel times shouldnt be too long. May prove to be the easier and cheaper way to go for a party of your size.?

Keep in mind that if you take a taxi to Magic Kingdom, you will be dropped off at the Ticket and Transportation Center, and from there you'll need to catch a monorail or ferry to the Magic Kingdom itself.

If you take a Disney Transport bus, you go directly to the grounds just outside the MK gate.

In other words, if you drive or take a taxi to MK, you delay yourself (as compared with taking the bus) because you'll also need to wait for and ride a monorail or ferry.

after some reading on another WDW site, I am really having cold feet. We are going during TG week. EPCOT on TG day & I feel almost desperate to get ahead of the crowd. I have a party of mixed ages, so we want to hit almost everything, and I wonder how much will be possible during a peak season.

REALLY feeling nervous!!!! I don't know the ins & outs of CBR. I stayed there in 1991 with just hubbie - never with family.

Okay...slow down, take a few cleansing breaths....feel better? Stop worrying. This is vacation, not a war game. Yes, it will be crowded, but I have to tell you..taking a cab to beat the crowds is not going to do much for you. When do you arrive in WDW? You will find that the closer you get to Thursday, T-day, the more crowded it gets. Do the things you really want to do early in the week. It's just not worth the stress worrying about the crowds and every little way we can get a small jump on them. If you want to get there early, be at your bus stop early. Even if you take a cab, you're going to have to get to the gates early in order to be up front for park opening. Why spend the money for something you can do for nothing if you just start a bit earlier.
