I was under the impression that the CAA/AAA discount for room only was between 15-20%. I know the last time I got the discount I did get 20%.

I just called to make my reservation for next June and I only got $11 off per night. Anyone have any info on this...I'm puzzled?

I booked a preferred room at POP for 14 nights and the rate including tax is $132. If I received the 15% in should have been $116...what gives? I do realize that Fri. and Sat. nights are a higher rate but that still doesn't work into my math.

The discount varies with the time of the year. If you go to www.mousesavers , she has what the discount is for different levels of hotels during the different seasons. Kim

Mousesavers has the discount listed as 15%. After doing some further calculations I'm only getting 10%. I know it's only 5% but when you are planning a 14 night stay that extra 5% amounts to a fair dollar.

My next line of attack is a visit into the CAA office to see what they can offer me.

You might also try calling a AAA office in Florida and see what they quote. I've seen situations where a hotel will have a posted AAA rate yet when you phone AAA they somehow have an even lower rate. Worth a try. The Heathrow, Florida (national headquarters) travel office phone number is 407-444-4240.

You didn't say if you called Disney or went through your local CAA office. According to the Disney website the regular room rate for a preferred room in June is $121 during the week and $131 on the weekends. How many people are travelling with you? I think there is a maximum of 4 people per room before they charge extra. I also believe there are only a certain number of rooms available at the discount rate, so maybe there were no rooms available for your dates?? :confused3

You didn't say when in June, but I assume you didn't go into July. If you did, there would be a premium for the first July weekend.

You are going during "summer" season. The rate for a preferred room during the week is $121, and $131 during weekends. There should be a 15% disount on these rooms for AAA, making them $102.85 and $111.35. With the 12.5% tax, that makes the rooms $115.71 during the week, and $125.27 on weekends. You didn't mention how many weekend nights you had, because they'll give you the total cost, and average out a per night after that.

The only thing I could think of for your discrepancy is that your dates fell into July, or that like a previous poster mentioned, the discount was not available on some of the nights. They do sell out fast. I had to book my April AAA rate room at WL when the AAA discounts were released last August. Perhaps the value resorts do not provide the discount on the weekend rates :confused3

You should be able to get the agent to break down the cost for each night.

I'm travelling from June 28 - July 12...myself, DH, DD8 and DD17. I called WDTC and booked it over the phone. Which is the same thing I have always done and received the full discount.

After I received my email confirmation I calculated that I have indeed, only received a 10% discount per night. Not the published 15% for the summer season at a value resort. Yes, I am paying an increased rate for the weekends and the 4th of July weekend but even those nights have been reduced by 10%.

Does anyone have experience with the AP discounts? Is there any chance of a discount during the summer season? I think now that getting an AP might be the ideal situation as DH wants to do a lot of table service dinners...so having the option of buying a DDE card would make me happier about the cost of TS meals.
