I let my CAA/AAA lapse and wondered if it is worth it to renew prior to booking disney? Do you have to go through CAA travel agency or can you just tell the Disney vp that you are a CAA member.

Have a great trip!

So I guess my next question is how much savings is it to book through CAA/AAA. is this the way to go or just book through Disney.

That can vary with every AAA/CAA office/agent and the timing of your trip.

This goes for the selection and price of individual tickets, and individual trips.

AAA/CAA at WDW:
. . . discounted resort rates *
. . . discounted tickets bought at AAA/CAA *
. . . Diamond Parking area *
. . . special fireworks viewing areas
. . . discounts at Disney Car Care center

* based upon availability

AAA for room discounts, including this past summer. I have always had to call Disney to book our AAA discount.

The value of the discount will vary by resort and time of year. My experience with POFQ in the summer is 10%. At least one other time at another resort I got 15%.

Often Disney will have discounts that exceed the AAA offer. Rooms available are limited like at most hotels. Usually you can swap the discount for the lower one.

We have AAA. It pays for itself in hotel savings. POFQ is often not included in resort discounts when we go so that pays for the card itself. The other hotels we use it for are a bonus. You have to decide how long to wait to make the decision.

For October, my AAA package (room/tickets) discount was about 8%. Then we got a free dining PIN and used that instead.

I've booked my last two trips through AAA and received abot a 10% discount. However for my April 2014 trip I booked directly with disney and my rate came out cheaper than the rate I was giving by AAA. I would say request a quote and then go on the disney site and punch in what your looking for and compare.

If you are booking a room-only reservation, you can call Disney directly and get whatever AAA/CAA discount is available.

If you want to book a package, you must go through AAA/CAA. Neither Disney nor any other travel agent can apply the discount to a package.

I've moved this thread to the Discount Codes and Rates board. :)
