Since we've never been to CA, I have no idea what to pack. I see the normal range online says upper 40's to 60's. Is that accurate for January. What should we pack for a quick long weekend trip? Are warm jackets necessary?
Thanks so much. Can't wait to go!!

Layering is your best bet, as it could be 70s during the day and 30s at night...or 50s during the day. I've lived in San Diego for almost 9 years (in an area where the temperature is usually about the same as Anaheim's) and don't own a jacket. I do have several hoodies though!

We went last Jan 28th-Feb1st last year and it was really nice, in the 80s the whole time. One day in particular it was sweltering and we needed to find every bit of shade possible while making our way through the parks

We were there a couple years ago at the end of January and we had a lot of rain and it was cool. We wore jeans, sweatshirts, and jackets, but we were comfortable. Hubby wore shorts (typical!). We kept our eye on the forecast before we left and packed accordingly. Probably wouldn't have brought our jackets if they weren't expecting rain - we didn't need them for warmth.

The weather is definitely hit or miss that time of the year here. It certainly could be warm, sunny, and in the 70's but it could not. Its possible for it to be in the 50's and rainy. I would just make sure layer to like others suggested. Even if its nice in the day, it will still cool off a good bit at night.

Layering is good but don't be fooled it can get very cold in LA in January. Clear and COLD. Bring moisterizer and chap stick. If it gets windy you will probably need it. It's the clear that will get ya. If there isn't any cloud cover :cloud9:it can get cold

CA weather is pretty crazy in winter--for example, it was in the 70s/80s all last week and now it's down to the 50s! I would recommend bringing a lot of different kinds of clothes--shorts and t-shirts if it's warmer; and jeans and sweatshirts for when it's cold. There can also be a lot of wind this time of year; chapstick is almost required. And the PP is completely right--watch out for clear skies on cold days, because they're only going to get colder!
