I would have updated sooner, but I had connectivity problems last night. D'oh! I'll laso be uploading pics later tonight. Hopefully.

Wake up time: 730am. My body had not yet adjusted to the time difference, so my uncle was surprised at me being up so early. It worked out, though. My uncle, dad, and two non-blood cousins went to the beach for a morning bike ride. I stayed behind and helped my aunt as she started making some fruit salad. She had some GOOD fruit. Perfectly ripe watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew. Mmmmmmm.

After my uncle, dad, and cousins returned, they showered and got ready to go to the Orange County Swap Meet. This place was quite cool. Think a blend of flea market plus county fair. There were some things that made this place awesome.

1)a free BMX stunt show. The riders were really good and I got some phenomenal action shots.

2)Vendors of all kinds. A lot of your typical flea market fare, of course. They also had cars and boats for sale, furniture, and even an auction. Yes, the auctioneer spoke fast and in seeming gibberish.

When we (me, dad, stepmom, uncle, one blood and two non-blood cousins) were done, we headed back home. Upon arriving, I met the one non-blood cousin i had not yet met, Alicia. She was only in town for a few days.

The remainder of the day was relaxing. There was a walmart trip where I went primarily to get out of the house. I now that I should have picked up the rechargeable batteries and charger ($20). Knowing how I take pics, I'm going to be picking that up today. I only have two AA batteries left. Those will not last for more than a day. This is me, the shutterbug, mind you. Nearly 250 pics in 3 days. Batteries won't last.

After walmart, it was back to the house. My aunt was still getting things ready for the BBQ. The BBQ would be successful. I met many of my uncle's friends. I even ate some red meat that was cooked by Ken. You'll see him in the pics when I upload them. Patience, young ones. Everything at the BBQ was tasty. MMMmmmmm. After the BBQ winded down, I played poker with my dad, uncle, and one of my uncle's friends. It was quarter poker, so no big. I lost my $5 and my dad bought me in with $5 of his. I lost that too. Oh well, it was still fun.

I retired early, as I had to be up by 7am today so we--me, dad,and stepmom--could catch the 9am boat to Catalina Island. More on that in my next update.

Sounds like a neat day of hanging with family.... :thumbsup2 We always do that when we visit Florida for vacation every year....each year I enjoy it more and more.

Oh, and btw, you should be using rechargeable batteries in your dig camera. We did some research and they actually recommend it as it has something to do w/ dig cameras being a "high drain" electronic item and alkaline batteries are NOT recommended for them. If you test the batteries you used in your camera, they will say "good", but won't have enough energy to be used in the camera. Honest...we had alkaline batteries in the camera, the camera shut off and it said "change batteries". So, we put the fresh rechargeable ones in the camera and the camera worked fine. We have a battery tester and I put the "dead" batteries from the camera in it to see what it said (expecting it to say "bad") and they registered "good". Put them in something else to try, and lo and behold, they were good. So, don't throw them away, they'll be good for something else ;)

Looking forward to yer pix!
