CA Screamin

The only thing I have heard of late is what I read on Dave Dizney's trip report that a cm told him Screamin would likely be open soon since the California authorities had already done their thing. I believe they were at Disneyland two weeks ago however and it has not opened as of yet. I am hopeful it will open soon, can't imagine being at DCA next week and not riding it! Most everything else I have read on disboards and other sites has it as being closed for several more months. We'll see!

I've heard that CMs have been telling others the same thing, but so far as I've heard, DOSH hasn't finished with their report, and once they do, Disney has to fix the problems to DOSH's satisfaction. Considering they had to please DOSH in order to reopen Space Mountain and that took nearly 3 years, I can imagine it'll be at least a few more months before Screamin' is open again. It took 6 months to reopen Thunder after the first accident and that wasn't a brake failure or computer/sensor error--which I think is a bigger fix than the problem on Thunder, considering that the train involved on Thunder was the only train affected and was more of an operator error than a mechanical problem with the ride--yes, the train itself had a problem, but the CMs working the ride who noticed that there was a problem should have taken the train off the line right away rather than sending it through loaded with passengers one more time.

The Screamin' accident happened three days before our trip in early August. We were disappointed to miss it.

I hope this rumor is false, but I have heard that Screamin was planned to be taken down for refurb in early 2006 and that with it down right now, they just might do the refurb now. That would keep it down for a few more months.

On the other hand, I bet the Disney folks want to have Screamin' up for the holiday season when crowds increase.

We have a day trip scheduled for Thanksgiving, and are keeping our fingers crossed they will have it open by then.

This is the first I've heard of it. Can anyone provide a link to more information? We rode it MULTIPLE times mid-July while we were there.................P

I'd have to search around, but I'll see if I can find it. What happened was that as the cars were coming back to unload guests one of the trains didn't break properly and collided with a stopped train. Fortunately there were not major injuries, but of course it has to be investigated and repaired.

Just go to news dot google dot com and search for "disney screamin".

You'll find a ton of articles there.

I understand the reasoning behind the ride being closed but I was hoping to be able to ride it when I go at the end of the month. Oh well, I am still looking forward to the Disneyland experience. I will just do everything else possible and be happy to be there.
