Is the Golden Zephyr and Jumpin' Jellyfish still there?? Or were they removed for WOC?

They are still there I think I read somewhere that the golden zephyr is getting a refurb soon.

I must be so blind or maybe the WOC construction distracts me?!?!?! I don't know...I have never ridden either and if they are there I'd love to try!!

Do either make you real dizzy?

I am afraid of heights and it took me awhile to ride the zephyr but once I did it's great it just goes around in a large circle but the view is wonderful nothing dizzy for me. I have never been on the jellyfish but DD tells me they just go up and down kind of mild hth

Seasonal refurbishments:

• Golden Zephyr – closed February 16 through April 2 for refurbishment.
• S. S. Rustworthy – closed February 23 & 24 for refurbishment.
• Award Weiners – closed through April 18.
• It's Tough to be a Bug – closed March 8, for one day only.
• Princess Dot Puddle Park – closed April 12–16 and April 19–23 for refurbishment.
• Redwood Creek Challenge Trail – closed April 12 through May 20 for refurbishment.

Construction-related closures:

• The Vineyard Room – closed. No announcement has been made about a potential replacement for this restaurant, though work to expand the venue is reportedly part of the refurbishment that has the Golden Vine Trattoria closed through April 26.
• Golden Dreams – closed. The building that once house this film-based attraction has been demolished, and will eventually be replaced with the new Little Mermaid ride.
• Burger Invasion – closed. No announcement has been made about a potential replacement for this former McDonald's location, but an employee publication lists May 24, 2011 as the return date.
• Paradise Pier Lagoon – work continues on the World of Color installation.
• Golden State Amphitheater – area closed for construction of new viewing area for Disney's World of Color water show. The area is now scheduled to reopen in Spring 2010.
• Corn Dog Castle – closed due to construction in the area. An employee publication lists March 24, 2011 as its return date. During the renovation, corn dogs are available at Bountiful Valley Farmer's Market.
• Souvenir 66 – closed due to construction in the area. An employee publication lists March 24, 2011 as its return date, and "Seaside Souvenirs" as the new name of the store.
• Orange Stinger – closed through April 28 for refurbishment and renovation into the Silly Symphonies Swings.
• Golden Vine Trattoria – closed through April 26.
• Tower of Terror Fastpass – not offered April 10 through August 15 due to construction of the connector between Bug's Land and Tower of Terror.
• Bug's Land / Tower of Terror connector – the temporary connector path will be closed April 19 through August 15 to allow construction of a more permanent route between the two lands.

I don't remember when the refurb is hopefully someone else will chime in here. But Burbank icecream In DCA is in a train called the California zephyr I think. Gosh I could be way off but I recall seeing photos and articles inside the train. Lol

I don't know of any merchandise, but yes, there's a train called the California Zephyr.

If you want to ride the Golden Zephyr (after its refurb), keep in mind that it closes for wind, or even fairly light breezes. In June 2009 we only saw it running once or twice (which is when we rode it!). So if riding is a priority, I'd suggest you ride it if you see it open, rather than deciding the line is too long and figuring to come back later.

Glad it'll be up and running by the time we get there (I doubt I'll ride it though, heights are not my friend):smile: I knew there was an actual working train called the Zephyr but didn't realize there was one in DCA, that'll be pretty cool too! Thanks for the heads up!

The Golden Zephyr is a pretty cool ride! I too didn't think it would be much the first time I rode (when DD was way littler) but it is pretty neat flying over the water.

And yes, even if it doesn't feel windy (or even breezy) to you, they will close GZ until the wind goes down. This can happen at dusk a lot. Once the sun goes down they usually reopen it.

Maybe they will make the ride vehicles gold instead of silver during the refurb. It always seemed funny to me to call it the golden zephyr when the cars are silver!

Yeah, it just cracks me up!

DS and DH loooooove that ride. Me, not so much. But it's pretty and yields spectacular pictures!

As does that train car, if you can keep people from walking into the shot.

Can't recommend the ice cream there...bleah! The bakery, however, tends to be scrumptious!
