Does the afternoon parade in CA always run the same direction? Where does it start and about how long is it? Thanks!

The Pixar Parade in CA always starts from Hollywood Land (back by Hyperion Theater where Aladdin is shown) and ends at Paradise Pier near Goofy's Sky School.
There is an "Inside Out" pre-parade now that runs at 5:00, and the full parade starts at 5:15.

It's about 1/2 hour long, IIRC.

Hope that helps!

It does-thank you! Are there spots that are generally less crowded than others for the parade route?

No, it actually goes right past GSS and continues past Broadwalk Pizza&Pasta to Silly Symphony Swings. So you can sit all along that area to watch the parade as well.

A word of warning about this parade. It is super fun but SUPER WET on hot days. We were there over the weekend and it was HOT. The floats in the parade were shooting water (sometimes a lot) at people sitting and watching. A couple people had video cameras out and I was thinking EEEEKKKK if they got wet, it would NOT be pretty. So keep your electronics in your bag for this parade, unless you want them wet.

Thank you for the clarification....I never watch it from that end, and I always feel like the GSS, Symphony Swings, Boardwalk area are closer together than they actually are. :)

There always seems to be good space along the route where it passes near Ariel's Adventure. This isn't quite like a DL parade where people fill up the spots an hour in advance. You can get a good spot fairly late in the game for this parade. But it is a good one!

Perfect! We have a late lunch reservation at Ariel's Grotto with the princesses and I was hoping to be able to find a spot after our lunch. Is 15-20 minutes early enough for a front spot? My DD loves Inside Out so now the parade is a priority for sure!
This is our first trip and I am trying to get a "picture" of the park layout in my head. Is there a path from Ariel's Grotto back to California Screamin without having to walk through the restaurant? It is hard to tell from the map and I was thinking about grabbing a FP for CA Screamin before the parade and want to make sure that we could cut straight back and not have to follow the parade around the long way!
As always-thanks for helping out a newbie with so many questions and the need to plan Disney trips..lol :)

Yes! You walk out of the restaurant and hang a right...follow the boardwalk around to Screamin' to grab your FP's. Then, turn right around and head back the way you came, past the restaurant, to grab a spot for the parade in front of the Ariel's Undersea Adventure ride.

You could also keep going past Screamin' (after grabbing FP's) and make a full circle around Paradise Bay, and end up near Goofy's Sky School and the Silly Symphony Swings, and grab a spot to watch the parade there.

We were just there a few weeks ago and there was no Inside Out pre parade the day we saw the parade :( I was disappointed. Is it still showing?

That's weird...we were there around the same timeframe. I think we watched the parade (with the Inside Out pre-parade) on Thursday the 10th. I wonder if they only do the pre-parade on certain days....not sure why they wouldn't show it every time....for that matter, not sure why they don't just make it part of the parade. It's a Pixar movie and the float and dancers, etc were super cute!

We saw it on Saturday the 12th. We had a 5pm reservation at WCT (we do that so we can watch while we eat) and got seated right around 5. We waited and waited and nothing. Then at about 530 or so the actual parade went by. Weird!

If you ask me, it never ever emds. Just goes on forever. Parade is great, song is another story IMO. Just over and over and over.

The parade route is soooo long at DCA that it is pretty easy to get a good spot. We have always watched in the area between Ariel's and the Boardwalk Pizza.

Thanks to all!
I guess we will have to ask a CM if the Inside Out pre parade is still showing. Is it a weekday only thing? We are planning on CA on Friday 10/23. If the Inside Out parade happened on a Thursday but not Saturday then I guess we take our chances in the middle?? lol

I LOVE the Pixar Parade, the best spot to watch, at least for us is the benches @ Sonoma ... add a beer or 2 and it's heaven

We were there for Dapper Days and watched the parade each day ~ it's a favorite :)

We noticed the first day, Friday, that the Inside Out preparade float wasn't included and hoped it was just an off day. We went and asked at the info booth across from Carthay Circle and the CMs checked their schedule for us. Sadly, there was no Inside Out listed as part of the parade for the weekend.

When I mentioned that I was suprised that it has been stopped, especially with the DVD being released in November, the CMs agreed and mentioned that it might come back.

Hope it does!
