Okay...as you may have seen a couple of my posts already, you see that the hubby and I are contemplating our FIRST trip to CA in Jan. :yay::yay::woohoo: (Yes, very excited! LOL) Well, I hear from my co-workers that it rains A LOT in Jan. and not to go at that time of the year....HMM?! Thing is, we just wanted to dodge the crowds and get to see and do as much as we can we we get there in the park and the other touristy attractions around LAX and Orange Cty. figuring if we go around June or July, yes, warmer weather but a ton more people too to deal with and the possibility of not getting to see everything we want at the park (waiting in lines, etc.). :sad2:

So, with that said, WHEN does DL post the rehab/closure list for the rides/shows in the park? Is it about 2 months out like DW? AND do they still have fireworks on the weekends in Jan. or is that a summer thing. Just want to know WHAT we will be missing out on if we go in Jan. We were thinking about the last week of Jan. since MLK day which means busier days at the park. HMM??

We haven't booked our trip yet, just talking about it and trying to get a game plan right now.

Thank you everyone for your help! :thumbsup2

First, yay for your California trip! You will have so much fun! :goodvibes

A lot depends on when you will go in January. Early January means end of holiday season (I am talking like the first week in January), when holiday hours will be in effect (longer hours, less closures). Later January would be considered off season (shorter hours, more closures). It really depends on your priorities. If you absolutely can't stand crowds, then off season is best, but you might not be able to ride your favorite ride or see your favorite show.

There is also a weather chart around here somewhere that gives the average temps and precips. Let me see if I can find it and also the thread comparing off season to full season...:)

Here is the weather chart (thanks HydroGuy!), it shows peak precipitation in DL is actually in February. But January does have an increased chance of precipitation than other months. But honestly, when I have been in DL in the rain, it usually rains in the morning and the sun comes out later in the day. Of course, some days it will rain all day.

Another thread by HydroGuy on high and low season: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=36509602

Also another one on DLR for WDW vets: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1162599

Disneyland doesn't always post ride closures/rehabs as far out as they do for WDW. So it is possible that a last minute closure could occur.

HTH! Have fun planning! :cool1:

You would want to avoid the MLK holiday on Jan 16th, and the NAMM convention with its 90,000 attendees and their families Jan 19-22. Disneyland is close enough to the Anaheim Convention Center that the traffic as well as the parks will be a zoo.

The rains probably won't be torrential, just enough to hold back some of the fair-weather touristas.

Thank you very much for your help and information which is greatly appreciated. If you have anything else you would like to throw my way, I am all ears....LOL I made a funny!:lmao:

Tammy :)
