We're newbies to Disney World and are wondering how to get back to AKL Jambo House after CA Grill dinner. We have 9:25pm reservations on Oct 22 and Epcot has EMH until 11pm that night. If we get done before then do we go to Epcot to catch a bus back to AKL, catch a bus to Downtown Disney, or would a taxi be easier? We're used to Disneyland and being able to walk everywhere. Thanks in Advance.

I would highly recommend getting a taxi. It'll probably be about $35 plus tip to get from the Contemporary to AKL. There are usually taxis waiting by valet. It'll be much faster than pretty much any other option. I would guess it'll take about 30 minutes all total.

There is a slight chance that you might be able to take a bus from MK back to AKL. MK is open until 10:00 pm that night and buses usually run until at least one hour after park closing (so about 11:00 pm). If you finish up early and could get back to MK by 11:00 pm (or so) that might also be an option. Still, most Signature dinners I've had take between 90-120 minutes depending on courses ordered, how busy the restaurant is, etc.

Otherwise, if using Disney Transportation, I would probably just opt to take the bus to DTD. At least you know those buses will still be running to the resorts until late. To do this, I would allow at least 90 minutes (45 minutes to take the bus from CR to DTD and then another 45 minutes for the bus from DTD to AKL). The general rule of thumb is to allow 45 minutes for each leg of a journey using Disney transportation because you have allow time in case you just miss the bus.

I also strongly recommend taking a taxi. Spending 90 minutes or so transferring on Disney transportation at that time of night is a genuine drag. This is a vacation- make it easy on yourselves!

ETA- It shouldn't take 30 minutes by taxi. More like 20 or so.

Thank you so much we've been debating on this for a bit and we knew it won't be a quick dinner. My Father in law wanted to do dinner for his birthday so we were thinking taxi but I thought I'd ask the great people here on the DIS. At that point we'll be tired and not want to spend so much time on the bus. Thanks again. :goodvibes
