Does anyone have a good place to watch the CA Electric Parade? We will be there this Sat. Also, is there time to use a Fastpass after the parade, or does everything close down then? Thanks

We made reservations at the Trattoria italian restaurant and asked for a table on the patio where we could see the parade. While we ate, the parade came by and it was really fun.

We used a fastpass immediately afterwards for ToT so the park was open for awhile anyway.

When we go on 2-23 we'll do the same thing - weather permitting.

We like to sit facing the pier while watching it. They always line the route with the benches and its nice to have a seat too.

This is such a good question because I was wondering the same thing. I LOVE  the electrical parade. Its definately my favorite parade out of all the Disney parades, but when we were there this past June it was the first time we ever saw it, and we lined up 45 minutes down beside the "Bugs Land" and we had a great seat until people started to sit on the road directly infront of us and some stood right behind those who were sitting blocking our view.

I dont really wanna complain but I didnt stand there on an empty street for 45 minutes to be treated like that. I didnt know we could sit pretty much right in the middle of the road. I would have joined but I was afraid to lose my great spot if those who were sitting down in front of me were told to move. Heck I will sit in the middle of the road next time :) But I need to know a great place to sit.

If the DEP is at 8:45 and DCA closes at 9, you won't have a chance to use your FP. If DCA closes at 10, then yes, you will have time.

I prefer to watch the parade where it starts, down by the pier area. I like to sit somewhere between Mulholland Madness and Golden Dreams Theater.

Mystic, if you look at the ground along the parade route, you will see two different kinds of asphalt. You will see that there is a pattern on the edges of the street, then a line where it ends and turns into smooth asphalt of the road. Guests are allowed to sit anywhere up to that line. So I always make sure my children are sitting right up to it in order to get front-row seats.

HTH.

I didn't realize the EP was running. I was under the impression that it was only during the summer months and during the busiest times of year like Christmas week and Spring Break. Is it running on Sat.'s and Sun.'s all the time now?

We love the Electrical Parade and may have to plan an extra trip out! :goodvibes

The Electrical Parade is scheduled Fri, Sat, and Sun while we are there in Feb and from what I can tell it's scheduled for every weekend between now and then as well. So, I would assume that as long as it's not raining, it's running.

Block Party Bash left DCA (went to WDW) at the beginning of Jan, and they needed an interim parade before they unveil the new Pixar Play Parade in March, so they kept it on the calendar on weekends only.

It looks like they are keeping it on the calendar through the duration of March and (I'm guessing) April on weekends for peak Spring Break periods.

I've been playing the song all this last week. Can't wait to see it this Saturday also. This is the first time we have seen it since they have changed the parade route. We used to sit up by the entrance before. Thanks for the tips!:cool1:

I followed this advice last Friday and had a great view! I was right across from Jumping Jellyfish, and could have sat on a bench if I felt like it. It was very empty (but it had been raining off and on all day, was cold, and the parks were relatively empty)

The bonus was that it was done in "my" area first, so I could have walked to the side of it, and gotten out of the park (going around Grizzly River Rapids, past Soarin', and out) before it even got to the end area (Sunshine Plaza), if I had felt like it, to go get a spot for fireworks. As it was I dawdled, walking behind the parade and taking pix of the Sunwheel at night, so I didn't get out until it was 3/4 done at Sunshine Plaza...

Anyway, it's a good place to watch it from!

But be forewarned that, well as of this weekend, they have the PP area blocked off so you can't go from Screamin' to Jellyfish (or vice versa). You can get to everything BUT Screamin' from the Jellyfish, but if you want to get from over at Jellyfish etc to Screamin' you have to walk ALL the way around.

I almost bumped into the construction walls b/c I wasn't paying attention. :rolleyes1

Thanks so much for the clarification. It is greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone for the great tips! I will definitely try down by the Pier, and use this way out if I can!
