Just looking to gain a bit more experience from others who trek 3000 miles for the fun! Anyone here from CA? We are from San Diego and looking to buy DVC soon! But would love to meet others form this part of the world!

:) Rod

We are from Southern CA and just bought DVC (one week ago). We already have two vacations booked and planning a third! We used to get to WDW once a year at the most because of the expense of accomodations. Now, we have no excuse!

We live in Fresno and have owned for about 3 years. Now that our kids are getting to school age, it is getting harder to get over there. We will probably buy in at GCV and then sell our WDW portion. We love WDW but I don't like going on the holidays and will not take the kids out of school for the wee. That is just my preference. If you think that you can make it at least every other year then it is a good investment and you will totally enjoy it.

We're from Northern CA and have owned for 3 years. The first year we went to SSR, but last year we stayed at the Grand Californian. We had such a great time last year, we're going next week to celebrate my daughter's 16th! In may, we'll be back for a High School Jazz Band workshop. This Thanksgiving, we're celebrating our 25th on the Disney Cruise!! but with cash, rather than points. I guess we're really going to have a Disney year!

I live in Oregon and have four trips planned for 2008.
I figure once I'm on the plane (we now have a direct flight) what difference does 5 instead of 2 hours make. The time difference is the only bad thing.
It's still worth it, though.

We are a family of 4 from Chino Hills Ca (San Bernadino County) and are newly DVC members!! Although we began our trip 2 yrs ago when DH attended conferences, we decided it was worth the $$/time for our future family vacations! We already have a timeshare in your neck of the woods
(La Jolla) but wanted somewhere else we all would like. WDW has so much to offer as well as much more room than DLR in our own back yard!! The Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island is definitley better!! We also enjoy when we are well taken care of by Disney such as transportation, dining etc... At this point, almost all CM's we have met have been very nice as well as helpful! This makes our trip truly enjoyable! We will even try to use some points here as well when we are short on time!!
Hopefully this helps you decide.

Rod: we already "met" in another thread but I'm a new DVC member from Orange County . . . .

WOW! Four trips in one year! I'm jealous! :rotfl:
We're hoping to get up to two a year.

Although, we don't live in CA either, we also live 3,000 miles away in Oregon. We bought a few years ago, but wished we would have checked into DVC earlier. We are a family that loves Disney and especially WDW! We always stayed in moderates pre DVC, but once we stayed at DVC, we were hooked!

We feel very fortunate to take our one vacation every summer. Instead of shorter more frequent trips, we stay at Disney 10-15 days and try other things in Florida too! This summer we will be in Florida for 3 weeks!:woohoo: I can hardly wait!

That is one of the beauties of DVC! When our son is grown we will be able to go at less busy times and try out some of the other things that Disney has to offer, like Food & Wine Festival!

I'd love to hear some of the "adult" activities Disney offers. My kids are 3 and 8 and they still love Disney. But we want to enjoy this for a few decades, not just another 5 years.

We live in Southern California- High Desert area. We've been members since 1994 and have traveled to WDW every year since then.

We live in Los Angeles and own at the Wilderness Lodge. We travel to Florida every other year.

I'm from SanDiego and a happy DVC owner. We have 400 pts and we use most of them at DL and when we go on our cruises we use them at WDW. WE try to cruise every year but spend cash for that and pts at WDW or DL.

There will be a DVC soon in DL for the Grandcalifornia...will be curious to see how that is going to work for us know if they will leave things as they are in addition to the DVC new wing.

Good luck on your decision. We don't regret it at all.

Pleasure Island can be lots of fun (Adventures Club, Irish Pub, Comedy Club). Also Jellyrolls at BW (piano bar, SO MUCH FUN) and Kimonos (sp) at Swan and Dolphin are all fun.

Just curious where in northern CA are you from, if you don't mind me asking :) . We live in redding and also own at SSR.

We live in the Bay Area and have been owners for only a couple of years :thumbsup2 . We love our points, but we need more. We can't wait for the Grand Californian Villas to go on sale, just so we won't have to fly so far, but we love  Walt Disney World and all of the great parks. We are looking for airfare for this year and so far, we are looking at $800/person...yikes. I hope there is a sale soon!

Once you buy your first points, you will have addonitis sooner than you think! Good luck!

Hi,

We live in a small town in the Northern California Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. We have points at SSR resort and are considering adding 100 more points at AKV. We go out for about 2 weeks every year.

We live in Tehachapi and go once a year and wouldnt miss it for anything. We love WDW.

We're south of Sacramento and love our DVC. We'll be adding on at the Grand Californian once it goes on sale. We make more short trips to DL than WDW. Our WDW trips are 7-10 nights.

I'm also from Northern California, near Sacramento. What airline are you looking at? Southwest has lots of flights (Sac to Orlando or Oak to Orlando)for $340 RT...
