Just recently returned from our first stay at OKW. WOW! I just loved it! Stayed in a one bedroom (1624). Loved the extra room space, the full size w/d, the beautiful view of the green from the large balcony. All the CM's were extremely friendly. I truly felt like I was in a "home" rather than a one-bedroom hotel. No trouble with the bus service (longest wait 15 minutes mid-day). Can't wait to stay there again!

So glad you liked our "home away". We have never been too worried about staying anywhere else because we like OKW so much. I would like to try your home sometime, because Epcot is our favorite, but I am not too keen on the hotel atmosphere there.

I bought at BWV and my first trip was to OKW, I have to agree that it is a great place. First trip to BWV Saturday, looking foward to it.

Let us know how BWV's compare to OKW...I'd be curious to see your opinion.

Glad you enjoyed OKW!! I think you hit the nail on the head..for us, OKW does have more of a "home" feeling and BWV more of a "hotel" feeling. BOTH are great! (we own at both resorts)

We love OKW for our longer trips, and BWV is great for our short get aways..you can't beat BWV location if you enjoy Epcot and MGM. We've booked BWV for a 5 day get a-way in early November for the food/wine festival at Epcot..don't think there's a better place to be staying to enjoy that!

Have a wonderful day!

PeggySue -- I like your thinking! DizMare I'm glad you found out how nice OKW is. I really love them both also.

Our home resort if OKW and we just love it. Stayed at BWV this past July and our preference is definately OKW. Someone on this board was right on the money when they said OKW has a more "at home feeling" and BWV has a more "hotel" feeling. The BWV location is just great though--the access to EPCOT and MGM just can't get any better and also the other hotels and the quick access to the restaurants. Much more "to do" and convenient than OKW. But for us OKW works well, after all we have been to WDW so many times that we are never in a rush to get anywhere and if we miss something there is always "next time". That is the BEST thing that membership offers----more visits!!!!! ;) <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">

I, too, own at BWV, but stayed at OKW last month. WOW! I was very impressed with the 1 bedroom! It was great--especially since just 2 of us occupied the whole unit. I loved having all that room. The 1 bedroom at the BW is very nice, but now it seems small compared to OKW. I was very impressed with the resort--it really did feel like home.

As an OKW owner, I would like to thank those BW owners who finally stayed at OKW and saw the features that attracted us to OKW and posted their views instead of always knocking OKW like it is the step child of DVC sites and "out in the boonies" with no reason to stay there.

I've stayed at both and my personal preference is what I bought and for many reasons.a

I was "forced" to make my ressies at OKW when I couldn't get into BWV for President's week. I worried about the buses. The kids moaned about "no slide."

Hee-hee! In less than a day, the kids said they loved OKW more than BWV. The buses ran fine (no Yacht/Beach stops), and we followed the advice posted here to get on at HH and off at Pennisular. The buildings and grounds were a delight. Every morning I watched the grounds crew change the hole on the green and then the duffers headed over the hill to our delight (I'm sure they loved us as an audience ;) )Gave me great confidence that I could handle that course, I'll tell ya.

All the cast members waved wherever we walked or biked. (At first, dh thought they were just waving in response to my waves.) Just minutes before the store closed for the night, the CM offered a bunch of stickers to my son - he could have just rung me up and run me out! When I type this, they seem like such small things. But taken together they create such a warm, inviting atmosphere!

Enough rambling. We're back to the Boardwalk in August, so I'll be able to compare yet again! But, if you "have" to book OKW, you won't be sorry!

We all received multiple "Welcome Homes." Never received even one in two trips to Boardwalk.

All of the posts here say the things that make us OKW owners like it so much. We like BWV also because of the location. But love the roominess and all the windows in a 1 BR. Plus the outdoor feel. We always have a car and can be at BW in 10 to 12 minutes to walk to Epcot. Also to enjoy the restaurants. But we always enjoy going "home" for the night and enjoy our very large and comfortable 1 BR.

I don't want to start anything but.....
I hope that anyone who parks at the BW and walks over to Epcot realizes that it is not the parking lot for EPCOT! If you really feel the need to park at my resort to go to EPCOT please be courteous enough to use the VISITORS parking that is located by the guards booth, or valet it.
Thanks

We always valet park at any resort other than our home, OKW. It is a perk of DVC to be allowed to park at other resorts and we go to dinner at the other resorts frequently. When we visited WDW before we joined DVC, we valet parked 99% of the time anyway.

I don't mind if someone wants to EAT at one of the restaurants. We also go to other resorts to enjoy the restaurants, and sometimes valet the car, sometimes we don't. My concern is with the people who think it's OK to park in the GUEST parking area of BW, then spend the day at EPCOT or MGM. That is definately NOT part of any DVC member privilege. The GUEST parking area is for those that are staying at the BWV's. I welcome anyone who wants to valet their car or who complies and parks in the lot for VISITORS.

Hi DizMare - guess where I live? Richboro, Pa.!We are neighbors :D So glad to hear you liked my home resort at OKW. We love the "home" feeling of OKW also, but we do enjoy the activity at BWV as well. I am just not a "hotel" person. I also love the roomy feel at OKW. See you at Super Fresh?!! ;)

Our home is OKW (which we love) and we are going to try BWV for the first time. I had trouble convincing my DH to do this but finally managed. The location can't be beat for Epcot and MGM, plus the Boardwalk itself. I am anxiously awaiting this next trip and so happy you have tried our "home" and enjoyed it.

OK, OK, all this nicey, nicey talk... This is making me sick... I want to know where are all the neh sayers? ;)
I think now that we ALL have VWL and soon to have BCV, it's not us against them anymore. This is great. Each of the DVC resorts, and this includes HH & VB, offer something different but each have the one common link, DISNEY. :D
Time will tell if BCV offers it's own twist to an EPCOT area resort making it different from BWV. Perhaps it will be the fact that it won't be as much like a hotel as BWVs but still have prime location. This might appeal to OKW'ers, who don't like hotel atmosphere, more than BWV does.
I am just happy to be a part of DVC. I love ALL the options available to me. :)

So glad to hear you liked OKW. BWV is our home, but in November we will be staying in a 1 BR at OKW. Hope to have a relaxing time, ride bikes, boats, and maybe not even go to the parks. In December, will be back at BWV for the Christmas decorations and fun times at EPCOT, MGM, and on the boardwalk.

Gail - - hope that your family will love BWV at Christmas as much as we do. Can't wait!! :)
