We are planning our first trip using our DVC. Our boys are 6 and 8. We plan on staying 10 days. Which place would be better for the boys.

Thanks.

WELCOME TO THE DIS!

What month are you planning on going? If you plan on going during warmer months that are great for swimming, nothing beats Stormalong Bay. In that case I'd vote for BCV.

With a six and eight year old, personally, you'd have me staying at the HoJos offsite before I'd let my kids near SAB. Its a beautiful pool - but its deep and has very poor sight lines for watching kids. If your kids are good swimmers, or if you can keep them together, or will have plenty of adults to follow them around, or are less worried around water than I am...SAB is a really nice pool.

Wow Crisi! My kids have been swimming at SAB since they were 3 and 4. They are now 7 and 8. Granted we do have a pool in our back yard and they are good swimmers. I don't let them out of my sight when we are there and this year was the first year I did allow them in the pool without my husband or myself in the pool with them (I was sitting on a chair on the side watching them) But, I wouldn't allow them in any pool without me either in the pool or sitting along the side watching them!

pjmbpjmp, Beach Club is our favorite resort we love the ambiance and themeing of the resort. But both are great resorts and you won't go wrong either way!

Some people are comfortable, and some kids are better listeners than others. My parents are on a lake, so my kids are pretty water saavy as well - but they aren't great swimmers yet and I got lost at SAB myself. The problem with SAB is the sight lines, the size, and the unexpected depth - particularly around the lazy river....it isn't easy to watch one kid in the "pool" while the other enjoys the slide.

We enjoyed it a lot when the kids were four and five and we were in the water with them. We look forward to enjoying it again when then are 11 and 12 (or so) and we can say "meet us here in an hour." But for the next several years (they will be six and seven next trip), we will be avoiding BCVs and looking for pools where the kids can have both freedom and supervision (i.e. I can watch them from my chair regardless of where they go). As I said, its a lovely pool.....just one certain to give Moms like me with kids like mine a lot more grey hair! (Waterparks cause the same sort of reaction in me - but we will still spend the day at the waterpark as a family - I like to spend the afternoon at the hotel pool with the kids in the water and me not getting wet).

We have stayed at both with our two boys. We enjoyed both but prefer BCV as our number one place, also our home base. We have a 7 year old and a 1 1/2 year old and have not had trouble with them at either pool. Our oldest is a good swimmer but usually we split up so I am with the younger child and my husband is with the older. We do watch them close both places and they seems to do fine. The pool at BCV is much more fun (SAB), but we also like the quiet pools just to play around with the boys. We have always had excellent staff service at the Beach Club and the Villas there and try to get an upper floor villa facing EPCOT so you can see and hear Illuminations from the balcony. We had good service at BWV and a nice walk to MGM studios but still prefer being closer to EPCOT, the restaurants at Beach Club, and the pools. Either resort is nice and sure you will enjoy either one. Good luck and have fun! :cool1:

Remember that BWV has the community hall, and its waterslide is no slouch. Also, if sand isn't for you, choose BWV.

Community Hall is a major advantage for the BWV. All kinds of table games as well as electronic games and activities. My kids love Community Hall and always look forward to time spent there as much as anywhere.

I own at both and love them both. BWV has community hall. BCV has the kiddie pool area with the sand to play in.

Take at look at this site: tagrel.com

There are pool slideshows on the tagrel site.

Good luck!

I will be staying at BCV for the first time this summer--how deep is their pool?? Thanks ! :flower:

We love them both so much that we are going to split our stays between both. We love SAB at BCV and it seems more quiet and removed. While at BWV you're right in the action. The villas are connected to the lobby and you can go out on the Boardwalk at anytime in the evening and there's stuff going on.

There is a great zero depth part of the pool with a sand bottom that is wonderful for small kids. But I couldn't stand in the river part of the pool (I'm 5'7").

One area of the lazy river section of SAB is 9 feet deep.
