I am curious to hear why BC lovers prefer it over the BW, especially when the BW has lower points if you are lucky enough to get a standard view room?

TIA!!!

I've visited both resorts. I was at the Beach Club with my mom a few years back and we did a family trip to BWV this December which was awesome. I decided I needed DVC for myself.

Since I love the location of both. I chose BWV because the points ( resale ) are priced cheaper AND you can use less points for each night of your stay.
I also enjoy hanging out and people watching on the Boardwalk, though I'd be less likely to choose a resort because of a specific pool.

I am leaning towards a small add on (resale) at BW myself.....just gotta' figure it out.

the main swimming pool.

plus you can easily walk to Epcot. Now you can walk to EPcot from BWV - but not nearly as easily.

the hill that you have to walk - BC and YC guest can go under that hill.

so at my age that little bit definitely helps!

plus love Cape May Cafe and Beachs & cream - again you can walk here from BWV - but it can be a long walk especially in the rain. at the BCV you are under cover the entire way.

I would love to hear more responses on this topic. We're thinking about buying via resale at either BCV or BWV. Never stayed at BW before, but have stayed at BCV. Loved SAB, but also like the option of standard view lower points at BW. And I'm betting that you need the Home Resort booking advantage to stag up the standard views, so I think we're swaying more towards BW or BC.

We own BWV for the lower point costs, and we own BCV for when we really want to enjoy the pool for the stay. We own more at BWV for the lower point costs. It seems easier to get BCV than the standard view at BWV.

We own BWV.

The advantage of owning BWV is the better chance of getting Standard View or Boardwalk View units. The biggest advantages to owning BCV is getting first dibs on 2 queens in the second bedroom - and having the home resort advantage for SAB - if you love Luna Park and are a BCV owner, you can hop - the opposite does not hold true.

BCV is a little closer to Epcot - I don't feel its significantly closer since we walk so much at WDW anyway, but obviously others feel differently.

BWV is a little closer to DS, but the walk to the studios is long enough that most people take the boat anyway.

BWV has guarenteed views, BCV doesn't - if view is important to you knowing you have a Boardwalk View might be worth owning there.

Dues have been slightly higher at BWV than BCV - I don't think significantly higher, but again, this may be critical to someone else.

The two resorts are close enough that BWV owners can take advantage of BCV restaurants and marina, BCV owners of BW's entertainment and restaurant - the BC Marketplace is a nice addition, but it wouldn't surprise me if BW added one eventually. If you feel strongly about being close to Beaches and Cream or the Boardwalk Bakery, that might make a difference. BCV has a kids club, BW doesn't - that could be another factor - though again, its my own feeling that the resorts are close enough for that to not be huge. YMMV.

BW is a little more integrated into the resort than BC. BC is a little quieter in atmosphere, and slighly more casual in terms of decor. I think BCV wins the ugly couch contest, but that is obviously a matter of personal taste - and is probably not important to most people.

I love both...

but I own at BWV I really love the Boardwalk itself. When we stay somewhere else we always spend time to come to the Boardwalk just to hang out.

I think the walk to both parks is really easy and a nice walk.

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. They are my favorite 2... I love that area.

The main pool at BCV is much better for younger children. BCV also has a more laid back feel to it. This could be just me though.

I think the main pool at BCV is better for toddlers, and from preschool age to somewhere around ten makes my top ten list of "most frightening things on the planet" (or alternatively "things that are more work than I want to enjoy them) then becomes a really cool pool again.

We own at BWV. BCV are beautiful but we like the fact that BWV are actually on the BW, intergrated, more like a hotel, instead of a separate building apart from all the action. SAB is a very big draw for BCV. My kids liked it, (took them there a couple of times before they stopped the pool hopping) but they didn't love it so it wasn't so important to us. They love the slide at BW, still do, even at 18. The slide is big enough for big kids too! The atmosphere around the Boardwalk is one of the things that sold us. When BCV were built we considered adding on there, but after touring and seeing that the building is located behind the BC, we decided to add on at BW instead. I may be mistaken but I think the square footage of the BCV and BWV are the same, but some of the layout is different. I remember from my tour of BCV that the closet off the jacquzzi side of the bathroom is smaller than the one in the BWV's, and the bathroom was separated by a door between the vanity and the toilet. Again this is all just my personal opinion, BCV are beautiful, but I love the fact that I can set up the ironing board in that big closet and leave it up all trip, without having to pull it out into the jacquzzi or bathroom. These small points are some of the things that made up our minds to by our first add-on at BWV instead of BCV. There's also the Boardwalk Bakery, Jellyrolls and the restaurants, all of which my kids are old enough to venture upon by themselves, and they love having it right there. Even when AKV came out (my favorite on property non DVC resort is AKL), we chose again to add on at BWV. It's our fav place, we'll get to stay in the others when we want to, and having more points in our home resort, with less points per night required makes a huge difference to us! Just OHO!

BWV & BCV are both fantastic resorts. Both are as about as similiar DVC resorts, as you are going to get. We love them both. We stay in both quite a bit. We own only at BWV because we bought BWV when it was first built and just kept adding on at BWV; we find 1 home resort to be much easier for banking, borrowing, 11 vs 7 mos etc.
Main difference between the 2 resorts is: BCV has an one-of-a kind pool and has 2 sets of elevators vs 1 set. BWV has lower points, better location and the view from the boardwalk view villas is incredible. Other than that, the differences between the 2 resorts is really very minimal. A few feet more here, off set by a few feet there--it is really basically a wash.
BCV is a much smaller resort so the resales tend to be slightly higher in price and there are less villas to go around. But other than that, the 2 resorts are like kissin' cousins! :lovestruc

I guess that all depends on what you like. The standard view room points are not something that would interest me - part of the fun for me is the view. I am not a huge fan of BWV so it may sway me but I like the rooms at BCV much more, like being really close to Epcot and the pool.

And honestly as long as you are willing to take BW or preferred views it really is not too difficult to get in to BWV where BCV is smaller and more difficult. And THE POOL!!!

Case in point last week or so we decided to go to WDW in June. All resorts had availability for 1 BR other than BCV (which we waitlisted for) BW view was even available which we declined.

If we get *stuck* at BWV it will not be the end of the world but we have now stayed at every DVC resort except OKW and are happy at any of them. I think it is shortsighted to not try them all out.

For us we prefer BCV and BWV for summer since we enjoy Epcot. Any other time we are happy at any of them.

I say that now but we are also staying 2 nights at CR and my son love love LOVES the CR so I see us adding points there if it in fact goes DVC.

We own at BCV, VWL, AKV and HH so you can tell we actually like about anything.

Wow...thanks for all the great posts!!

We own at the BW, but have been thinking of a small add-on at the BCV. You sure have given me a lot to consider!!

Thanks again!

I would add that the BCV parking is easier and closer to the resort than BWV- if you have a car that could be important.

While BCV and BWV are similar to a large extent, there are enough differences and advantages at each that justified us buying points at both.

We have stayed at both resorts and think they're both great! We ended up going with BCV points because at our current stage of life, the opportunity to have a 2-bedroom villa with 2 queens is big and allows everyone to have a real bed. My kids love SAB and all of the water activities (YC/BC has a large recreation staff), but they also enjoy the beach area. BCV allows us a place to sit on the sand and lounge while the kids build castles, and we love the nightly campfire sing-a-long and beachside movie. All of that plus the many casual, on-site dining choices tipped the scale to BCV for our family. We would have also been happy to add on points at BWV and the opportunity to more easily book SV rooms is a big plus. You can't go wrong with either:) !

Worth pulling out. If you don't care about standard view or boardwalk view - there are simply more BWV rooms than BCV rooms - playing the numbers there is more likely to be availability at BWV than BCV at seven months. You do have to not care too much about Boardwalk View or Standard View - those are sometimes available at seven months, but are often booked.

I would add that the BCV parking is easier and closer to the resort than BWV- if you have a car that could be important.

Since valet is free (except for tipping) I've never used self park at BWV or BCV.

We're BWV owners but have stayed at BCV and except for Stormalong Bay we weren't that thrilled with the resort. People say that BWV has the long hallways but BCV walks to the lobby aren't a short walk either and you need to go outside to get there. You can also get a Boardwalk view with beats any view that you can get a BCV. Last time we stayed at BWV we had a good view of the Illuminations at Epcot and Wishes at MK from the balcony.

We own at BCV just to be sure to get in there at 11 months for spring break. The whole beach/SAB thing is so great after a long winter (leaving in one month). We will usually only switch to BWV if we get BW View (usually our summer stay)-and that has been actually pretty easy (or lucky) for us, so there has been no reason to own there for us, but we do love BW View. We also own at VWL for XMAS week (already in the books for next year) so we are not looking at BWV during a really busy week.
