Spent Labor DAy weekend at the BWV- 1 bedroom pool view #2022. Had a wonderful weekend- Crowds were light- especially in the MK on Monday.

I never stayed in this part of the second floor before- loved not having to deal with waiting for the elevators but the room was 200 steps away from the elevator lobby. The room itself was great except for a constant drip in the bathtub which had formed a rust stain in the tub- Why would maintenance let this drip for so long without fixing it? This was unacceptable to me- especially for a non DVC member paying cash for this room seeing a rust stain from a dripping faucet- yuck.

We also had the wrong remote control for the TV in the living room. Maintenance had to go to the Beach Club at 10:00PM to get the correct remote for our TV? How did that happen? At least they did retrieve the correct remote and came back about 10:30PM- then the TV remote worked fine.

The refridgerator had ugly orange dots all over the front of it too (rust?)

As a DVC owner- these problems are minor- but I dont like seeing rust in the rooms- just doesnt look nice for this type of resort.

My guess is that no one reported the drip to maintenance. Hope you did. Can't fix/replace something you don't know needs it.

Best wishes-

Hopefully YOU reported the problems and someone came up to fix them. I suspect the orange dots might have been a child's creative use of markers. We have seen a bit of that in DVC resorts before in various forms. It was probably something mousekeeping attempted to remove but couldn't. I don't understand your comment about why renters should be more upset about this than owners??? :scratchin

Diane- I guess I meant that as an owner- I am embarressed for a renter to see the stains in the Villa- Its like a guest coming to my house and seeing something not clean- And I did report the stains- It looked like maintenance tried to access the drip in the tub before but had no luck fixing it.

Rhona, I hope you made a call to housekeeping or engineering to let them know about the drip. In April we were at OKW in a two bedroom unit with some cousins. One of them mentioned their shower was dripping. I called & maintenance had it fixed within a short amount of time. As a member I don't want to pay a water bill for a drip that can be fixed.

I urge any member to pick up the phone or stop by the front desk, & let someone know about any issues you have.

I think it is unfair to *demand* that the op report the problem, since it is really a quality issue (albeit minor) that should've been picked up by whoever is responsible for room quality. As a memeber, I would hope that she called and reported the problems but I don't believe it is her responsibility to do so.

Please don't assume I was being critical. It was not meant in the tone that you obviously took it.

Don't you think also that housekeeping would have reported the fact about the stain?

One would hope, but I suspect it isn't on the top of their list.

I disagree! I believe members have just as much responsibility to report less than perfect/excellent/whatever room quality whether it is mold in the bathroom, a burned out lightbulb, rust on appliances, etc. than CMs. The responsiblity is with all of us - CMs, members & even renters. Why should I, as a member, let some issue (housekeeping, engineering, etc.) go just because I am a member? I am a member, & I have a financial interest in DVC.

I will state again that I urge any member to pick up the phone or stop by the front desk, & let someone know about any issues you have. DVC CMs do want to know what makes members happy & not so happy!

In this case, the OP DID call and report it, but I do agree that we all have a responsibility to do the same thing. So many times we see folks coming here and complaining after the fact, but not saying anything at the time they were there. Too often things go unrepaired because no one has reported it to be a problem. I always do a quick check when we arrive. If something is wrong, I let them know right away if it is something that effects my enjoyment of the villa. If it is just a cosmetic thing or something that is a condition thing that doesn't effect the use (like the time our dishwasher looked like someone had taken a baseball bat to it), I'll wait and report it before leaving. Whenever I have reported a problem upon arrival, it has always been addressed ASAP.

We're all in this together. Disney has thousands of rooms and it's unrealistic to expect them to be able to monitor the condition of all the rooms after each guest checks out. Mousekeepers often don't speak English, making it less likely they're reporting problems. Can't see why it's a big deal to pick up a phone and report problems so no one else has to experience less than perfect accommodations. That's how we all protect our investment and make sure our stays stay largely magical! :earsgirl:
