Hi all,

I'd love to hear some opinions on whether a boardwalk view is worth the extra points over a standard view at BWV. Are the bw views strictly along the bw or does it include the rooms facing the grassy knoll?

I have a boardwalk view but keeping debating if I should waitlist for a standard view to save the extra 20 or so points. The reservation ends prior to my banking deadline so I have nothing to loose waitlist wise.

I know only I can reconcile this issue in my head but feedback would be appreciated.

To me the BW view would be worth the extra points, but I'm not so sure about the pool view being worth it. I have stayed twice in standard view and liked it just fine. Since I don't have an abundance of points I find that the standard view at BWV one of the best values on property.

Just my opinion, but the Boardwalk view is worth the points. I have stayed with all 3 views over the years (BWV is my home resort). I think the standard view is also a good option if you really want to save the points. If you can "afford" the points, you should try it at least once.

Grassy Knoll - only the corner 1 bedroom is considered boardwalk view, the rest are pool/garden. It's actually called the "Village Green".

I love the boardwalk view!

BWV is our home resort, so we have stayed all 3 views. The two visits we have had a preferred water (canal overlooking Swan) view, we were upgraded from std due to construction/rehabs.
I LOVE the B'walk view and, if I'm using preferred points, that's what I want - but I only book it for trips when I'm with other adults and/or at times of year when it's cool enough to really enjoy the balcony and view.
During our summer (hot!) trips or when I travel alone with kids (they don't spend much time enjoying the balcony or view - when we're in the room they're either cooling down by napping or watching TV) we stay std view - it always works just fine for those trips and saves points:thumbsup2

Another fan of BW view here. I ONLY book BW view. However, we do not go in the summer, so we do use the balcony.

I generally book a standard view room. I try to take extended trips, so using fewer points per trip works better for me.

I have had BW views and enjoyed them, but not enough to book them all the time. A pool/garden view room is not worth the points IMHO, unless that is the only option (maybe due to a last minute trip).

I liked it enough to get it again, but DH didn't think it was worth it. He likes the BWV well enough, so it was just using the extra points over standard that he didn't like. I did use the balcony, we had one last November.

.......(snip)....I have a boardwalk view but keeping debating if I should waitlist for a standard view to save the extra 20 or so points. The reservation ends prior to my banking deadline so I have nothing to loose waitlist wise.

If the waitlist comes through 30 days or less prior to check in day, the "extra" 20 points or so will go into the holding account. That means they cannot be banked, expire at the end off your use year and can only be used to make a reservation that is no more than 60 days in the future.

If you decide to waitlist, make sure it's set to expire at the 31 day mark.

We are BWV owners and now always get boardwalk view. It is a fantastic view and we consider it the best non-animal view on site (although I suspect high floor MK view at BLT is now competitive to it; we also own at AKV and savanna view there is also great). You overlook the lake, can see Epcot, watch all the activity on and around the lake and boardwalk, see the upper level fireworks of both Epcot and MK. Preferred pool and garden views are only somewhat better than standard, and standard is ideal if you want to save points because the view really is OK.

We usually go in August and find the BW view rooms to be quite lively with things to see from the balcony. We always ask for a top floor as the view is even better the higher you go. We've had rooms on the 3rd floor level too and those are also just fine. It's great fun to watch the boardwalk games of chance (get the lobster or chicken in the pot, shoot baskets, etc.) and the magicians as they do their spiel. The only downsides are the noise when the clubs let out on Friday and Saturday as the drunks can be loud heading to the parking lots and if you get a smoker on a lower floor balcony below you (just look at the top of the brew pub awning if you don't believe me on the smokers sneaking a butt on the balcony).

Rooms overlooking the quiet pool are also great, but I find those harder to get than the BW view ones.

I had my first standard view stay last August....I actually really enjoyed it. I have another one booked for 11 days from now. But, I also have my last two days in WDW booked in a preferred view studio at BWV..nothing else was available. I love the boardwalk view though...very entertaining and I love looking out at SE in the distance.
But, if I can't get a boardwalk view, and have to 'make do' with just a preferred view, that's okay as well.

We normally "prefer" a standard view - its a great value and I don't spend that much time sitting on my balcony. When we take guests we get a Boardwalk View - or if a standard view isn't available when we book. The only time a preferred view is preferred is when nothing else is available.

Another BW-view fan here! I actually did a 50-point add-on so that I could have the BW view for my trips. I bought enough points for a standard view, thinking that would be okay for me, but the first year I was a DVC member, I booked a December trip in April, and there were no standard view rooms available, and I 'had' to book BW view. I was hooked after that! Nothing like eating breakfast/drinking morning coffee while looking at SSE. :)

boardwalk view is definitely far superior because you can see the fireworks. It is a tad bit noisy though until around 9 or 10pm.

standard view is OK as long as you're not overlooking the parking lot. that was kinda a disappointment.

Anytime we had standard view we could see the fireworks. One time we had the corner room and could fireworks from both Epcot & DHS.

We love the view. If we can't get Boardwalk View....I try to switch resorts at 7 months.

we only book bw view now (when we rec'd a call that the bw was being refurbed for our oct 09 vaca & only pool/garden view was available, we intended to cancel......ms was able to get us the view after all, but it is that important to us.).
there is nothing to compare to waking up to the bw, sitting on your balcony in pj's, coffee in hand as the sun comes up over the lake.
or watching the boardwak activity while enjoying a glass of wine with a loved one, finishing up your evening with watching illuminations from the balcony.

imho, it's pure heaven, & nothing else can even compare :cloud9:

just to give you an idea of the view from our balcony (i've lots more, these are just a sampling):
