BWV view for cash customers?

Hello - I am not a DVC member, but have a reservation at the BWV for 11/15-11/22 in a 2 bedroom, standard view (the only one offered), via the FTP. I am very excited!!

I read on another thread that most DVC owners at BWV request standard view rooms, I guess due to less points required. I also have read that there are very few villas with boardwalk views. Finally a recent poster on the Resort board, said she was told at check-in that she might as well not have made any requests with regard to view, because the DVC owners are all assigned first and cash-paying customers get what is left. So now I'm wondering what view I'll most likely end up with? From what I've read it seems like I might end up with a pool view? Should I bother making a request?

Just trying to pass the time until my first vacation in 3 years...

Thanks!

If you are truly reserved for a standard view you are getting a view overlooking the front drive leading up to the hotel. Pool view, canal view and Boardwalk view are all Preferred view and cost more.

Hmm. What I started out to say in my first note was that I had read on another thread where a DVC owner had said that DVC owners generally get all of the standard view rooms and that it is very rare for a cash customer at BWV to end up in a standard view room. She also said that the standard view rooms are the ones that have a view of the fireworks at night.

Also, I've only ever seen one price listed for the villas (i.e., one price for studios, one price for one bedrooms, one price for two bedrooms), which vary by season, but not by view on the disneyworld.com website, do it doesn't seem like cash customers can pay more for a better view?

There are so many rooms reserved for DVC members, and so many more for cash paying customers. So it is not true that the rooms go to DVC members first then to the public. You can get almost any view that you want it just matters what time of day you are checking in. what you want to do is get there early, check in, and request what view you want. Most of the times the rooms are not ready till 4pm or so. But if you can wait longer, and have your name attached to a certain room you just have to wait till its cleaned.

I like a good view. we get there around noon, check in,tell them what we want.Check our bags with the bellcap, head off to eat then maybe to the park, call back at 4pm to see if it's ready. If not we continue to march and call back an hour later. Most of the time you can get what you want, just ask.Don't be in a hurry to check into a room just because it's ready at that time.

Good luck and have fun

On disney.com when you go into online reservations and click on more info when you choose BWV, you get this:

Studios offer views of a parking area. Villas offer views of a parking area.

I think since most rooms are taken by members, they show the standard view but in reality you may get something better. By only offering 1 view for CRO reservations it's easier to juggle them with the member rooms. I would make a request but realize that a BW view is going to be unlikely.

Dmorrill -

We were there before 1:00. They told me that they HAVE to fill the requests of DVC members first, that included views, smoking rooms, dedicated, firework views, etc. I asked if they could try and give us a view of something so he managed to give us a view of the canal, parking lot and TOT (three and half very long hallways from the elevator). The room was not ready until AFTER 4 pm.
