Just got back this afternoon from BWV, our first trip outside of our home resort SSR. A few quick observations first :
1. Loved the location, walked to Epcot for F&W fest, also could walk to MGM
2. Boardwalk at night was a blast with the Magic shows and live entertainment.
3. Good food selection

Checked in Sunday (Early @ 1:00, no problem). Assigned room 4002. 1 Bedroom preferred View as it was listed, we ended up with a canal view - looking out over at the Swan & Dolphin area. Really liked this - I dont think I would want to be on the Boardwalk view - seems like it would be noisy at night.

Room was in great shape, saw that the sofa beds were being replaced during the day. Looked like they were being donated to a local shelter or some type of agency.

Long walk from the elevator to the room - it was the last room. The trash area could be seen from the balcony, but it was really no big deal to us, some may not like it. I found it funny as we were walking to our room every day that people complain about how spread out SSR is, yet, this walk felt long too. These are big resorts. so I guess you just need to be prepared for it.

Sunday - Hung out at the resort, walked around just getting a feel for the layout and where everything was located. Went to Spoodles for some pizza, and then over to the pool area. Pool is nice, but I like SSR's much better. We spent most of the time in the kid area with our daughter. We just walked the Boardwalk later in the evening and got hot dogs and ice cream at Seaside Sweets!! Very good entertainment, I think his name was professor flatdoodle (?) with a banjo player named Andy.
***Rooms could use better soundproofing*** My only negative

Monday - Magic Kingdom. Slow at the park, no real long waits on the big rides. We actually waited 15 minutes to do Dumbo, but Cammy loved it. Got character pics with Princess Aurora, Tigger. We also hit the Country Bear Jamboree, Swiss Family Tree House, and Mickey's Toon Town. A lot of people seemed to come in for the Halloween party at night. Watched Illuminations by the Atlantic Dance Hall. Got a Root Beer Float, and Ice Cream for the girls and called it a night. We kind of picked at the park all day (Pretzel, Popcorn, Chicken Fingers) so we didnt really eat a dinner.

Tuesday - FOOD DAY AT EPCOT. First off hit the Character Breakfast at Cape May Cafe (Beach Club). Great food and the characters (Minnie, Dale & Goofy) did a great job of getting around to everyone a few times. Great Breakfast food too!!! Highly recommend this one. Rides :
1. Living Seas - just walked around the tanks, Cammy loved watching the fish
2. Soarin - Loved it, just fantastic
3. Circle of Life
4. Honey I Shrunk The Audience
The girls went back for a nap - and I hit World Showcase to taste some food.
1. Argentina - Great food - Spicy Beef Empanada and Grilled Sirloin w/Chimichurri salsa. Amazing
2. Mexico - Chilaquiles
3. China - Pot Stickers
4. Hops & Barley Market for a Sam Adams Octoberfest and a commemorative Mug.
We returned at night and I ate at the Yorkshire County Fish & Chips shop just down from the Rose & Crown. I have to eat there at least once. Saw Off-Kilter and The British Invasion - always good shows! On way back to the room we watched magician named Brian on the boardwalk - this guy was great, funny and good with the kids.

Wednesday - 7 am stoll down to the Boardwalk Bakery for Coffee and Donuts. Animal Kingdom.
1. Expedition Everest - Great ride, and adds a lot of character (scenery) to the park.
2. Kilamanjaro Safari - Cammy loved all the animals - quite a few were out on our trip
3. Did a lot of the walking paths just to let her see the animals, bats, gorillas etc..
Back for the nap. I walk the path down to MGM, and hit the quiet pool at Community Hall. I know this is a slow time for Disney, but I had the pool to myself, and only a few people sitting around it.
Downtown Disney for Dinner at Rainforest Cafe'. We walk over to SSR, our home resort. I am very impressed with how nice the resort looks. I was there in 2004 when only a few buildings were up and a lot of construction was going on. I love it there - beautiful!

Thurs - 7 am stoll down to the Boardwalk Bakery for Coffee and Donuts. Back to Magic Kingdom
1. Mickey's Philharmagic - great
2. It's a Small World - gotta do it for the little one
3. Haunted Mansion
4. Riverboat
5. Jungle Cruise
6. Mickey's Toon Town
Got pictures with Pooh, and just strolled around a bit more. Colonial Harbour House for lunch - Chicken Strips for everyone! Dinner at the Big River Grille Brewing Works on the Boardwalk. Good burgers and beer. Another trip for Ice Cream!!

Fri - 7 am stoll down to the Boardwalk Bakery for Coffee and Donuts (I could get used to this). Pool Hopping. Our last day and we decide to pool hop over to Beach Club. Wow - what a great pool, Cammy played in the sand all morning. I made a quick trip over to Epcot for a quick shot at riding Soarin again - and hopped on for a run aboard Mission Space.
Epcot Stops -
1. Italy - Pizza, mmmmmmmm
2. Mexico - Quesidilla
3. Poland - Cabbage Roll
4. Canada - Cheddar Cheese Soup. Not soup weather, but tasted great

We hung out at the pool most of the afternoon and evening too. Went back over to Epcot for a few more bites, saw Starship with Mickey Thomas for a few minutes - good show. Friday night got pretty crowded, seems more of a party atmosphere than during the week. Lots of fun!

I think Beach Club is great, fantastic pool area, and atmosphere. We want to stay at BC or VWL next.

All in all a great vacation, we really enjoyed BWV's! Resort was very cool and again Disney carried out the theme extremely well.

Eric

Glad you had such a great trip. Thanks for taking the time to report. Consider yourself lucky this time that you were able to hop to the BC pool. Usually there is someone checking wristbands, since there is supposedly no hopping allowed to this pool. I guess you had an extra measure of pixiedust working for you!

Glad you had a great time. We're really looking forward to our second trip to BWV this February. You really can't beat that location. Thanks for sharing!

Eric,

We were there at the same time! We left on the 6th. I was in a 2BR above the model homes. (Room 2007-09). Had a BW view and loved it. I didn't find it very noisy. It was nice to just sit out on the balcony and watch the goings on on the BW.

We did EPCOT on Tuesday, too and I did AK on Wed. (did you peek at my schedule?)

Glad you had a great time. We did, too. I thought BCV looked nice and plan to try there when I take kids with me, so they can use SAB.

Terri

Thanks for such a detailed trip report - it was fun to read!

Best wishes -

We were just there too......from Sept 27th to Oct 7th.....
We were in room 3053 a studio overlooking the Village Green...It was the best room ever...the balcony was huge!!!!!!
We had a great time and can't wait to go back!!!!!

Thanks everyone for reading - it came out longer than I thought - but I was obviously still very excited when we got home :)

Glad to hear that you guys both liked the Boardwalk view. I was just guessing that it might get a bit noisy, but maybe we will give it a shot sometime.

No one checked for wristbands at the pool. The pool areas were not very crowded, so maybe they just were not concerned at this time of the year. Cant wait to try BC at some point. Kind of sad to be home - it really was a great trip.

Tek224 - that is pretty funny - I guess great minds think alike :) I really want to spend more time at AK - I do like the park a lot and it really seems to be coming into its own with Everest. Good balance of rides and attractions!

Thanks for reading everyone

Eric

Thanks for the great report. I really enjoyed reading it! :cool1:

I'm trying to plan a quick surprise trip for my DH in early Feb, and I've been attempting to decide between BWV and SSR, so reading recent trip reports really helps me out. :sunny:

It really must be hit and miss as far as checking for wristbands.

My DH & I cut through the pool area to get to Beaches 'n Cream a December or two ago. I only saw one little kid and a shivering Mom in the pool - the temperature must have been in the 40's and the life guards all had some type of "parka" on. We Minnesotans were still in shorts (but I did have a sweatshirt handy "just in case"), LOL.

Anyway, one of the pool CMs attacked us and asked to see our resort ID. I explained that we were just taking a short cut and he let us through. But I did think he was pretty much wasting his time - who pool crashes in Florida when the air temp is 40 something? And why would anyone care? :rotfl:

Best wishes -
