I know that there is boat transportation from BWV to MGM, and that there is also a walking path. We aren't opposed to either option. Any recommendations?

Is this a situation where you take the boat if it happens to be at the dock when you arrive, but if not you're better off walking?

What is the estimated travel time? We've taken the boat in the past and I seem to recall it was about a 15-20 minute ride.

Thanks. :D

In most cases, walking is faster than the boats. BUT, we tend to walk to MGM early in the day and then take the boat back at night (unless there is a huge wait for a boat). For us, the walk is between 15 - 20 minutes. So, if the boat were there waiting upon your arrival, I still think you may beat the boat there by foot -- even if by just a little bit.

It has always been faster for my family to walk to MGM than it would have if we had taken the boat. We often take the boat back, but we always get off at the Swan/Dolphin and walk back over the bridge to the BWV. It beats going to the YC/BC first and then on to the Boardwalk and saves a ton of time.

The walk is very nice too. On our last walk we stopped to see birds, ducks, turtles and fish and still beat the boat.

We walk if no boat there

If the boat is there we do as HBC does - get off at S/D and walk across to BWV

The walk is quite nice - reminds me of a lost disney park guests event - I was walking back to Epcot from MGM - around 7:15pm or so and came across a family who asked for help

They wanted to get to the MK by 8pm by going to MGM and grabbing a bus

I tried to gently tell them (they had kids there so did not want to be too loud and disappoint them) that there was in essence almost no chance of getting there to the MK in time but they kept going on

thanks

I always walk too and from MGM when I am alone. If DW comes along, we sometimes take the boat. Even if the boat were waiting at the dock, it would be a quicker trip back to the room at BWV, since we usually stay standard view and you can enter the building at the end nearest MGM and go directly to your room (unless you need the elevator) rather than walking from the S/D or BW boat dock to the room.

As Ralph&Pam points out, if you're staying on the "MGM side" of BWV, you will certainly find it easier and quicker to walk to MGM since you've already got a decent head start. :)

One thing I would definitely say is that there's no way you want to take the boat back from MGM right after the end of Fantasmic. The dock is extremely crowded and the boat often can't take everyone, so if you're not in the front, you could end up waiting another 20 minutes for the second boat.

We have even timed it so we left MGM at the same time the boat left the dock. By the time we walked to BWV, the boat was just arriving at Swan/Dophin. By the time we got to the International Gateway, it had not yet left Yacht/Beach dock. We decided it was timewise better to walk, but energy wise, better to ride!;)
