Ok, I am struggling with this one!!

We are going on the DVC Member Cruise Labor Day Week. I have booked BWV Stand. View Studios for before and after the cruise.

Dilemma #1

We are staying 3 nights after the cruise and I have BWV booked, but then they came out with the free dining so I put a ressie on hold at Pop Century. I will have to place a deposit in a couple of days, so Im trying to decide. Our BWV stay is Sept 8-11 (Th-Sun. 49 points) or Pop with Free Dining, 1 day Base MYW ticket ($489 incl. tax). We have never stayed at PC or any value, so Im willing to give it a try, and we would get to do Hoop De Doo, Le Cellier and still have counter service and snacks. Is this a no-brainer or will we miss DVC so much that it wont be worth it?

Dilemma #2

DVC is throwing a Bon Voyage at PI the night before, so now Im thinking we should switch our before stay to SSR. We will have a car, but we are only swimming that day and doing the party at PI so Im thinking SSR would be more convenient. Dh and I stayed at BWV last Oct. and we pool hopped there once (SAB was closed) but never stayed as a family. BWV or SSR?

If it were me (and I am a BWV owner who absolutely hates even the thought of staying anywhere else, LOL), this is what I'd do:

#1. Stay at SSR. Nothing like walking home after a party vs waiting for a bus.

#2. Go w the free food and stay at POP. It's only for 3 nights, you'll be used to abundant "free" food from the cruise and you aren't going to be in the room much anyway given what you mentioned doing.

Just save BWV for another time - youll get other chances and I'm sure you can find a way to use those 49 points another time, LOL!

Best wishes -

Are you saying that the whole package is costing $489?...or is that per person? If it's the first, I would go with Pop, try it out!

I think part of the reason I loved our SSR stay was walking to/from DTD at night, seeing the lights, so I agree with going there before the cruise.

If you look at the "value" of the 49pts @ $10pp then I figure you get a room for the same price with a park ticket and meals.

If I had the cash - I would do PC and save my points for another trip.

Pop just go with the understanding that it is not a DVC resort.

for what it is - it is a pretty wonderful resort.

but a value resort is a value resort. expect a long line for the buses, no restuarant, no bike or boating renting, no room service.

I happen to love Pop Century but others hate it.

they have a great bus service - if the first bus to arrive won't hold everyone generally there is a second bus there before the first bus leaves.

don't let long lines here discourage you - they will disappear fast!!!

If it were me.... I would stick with the BWV ressie. My feeling is, we've bought the points to use. The values have no interest for me, I didn't stay there even before I bought DVC.

As for staying at SSR and walking, that is ok, but my first preference will always be BWV. And you did get a std view to save some points.

For only 3 days I would do the dining package at POP. We still prefer the values even after buying DVC. You can't beat the atmosphere at the All Stars and POP Century.

Even though BWV is my home resort, I would do the POP Century just to try it. If you don't you will always wonder about whether you should have given it a spin.

just remember the rooms are smaller and even the beds :sad2: at POP and like another dvc memeber said, you will get all the free food on the cruise.

I like the idea about ssr or okw ( if you need a change from your last trip)
you can also get to DTD from okw by boat, plus the new pool at okw.

DONT for get why your taking this trip in the first place

DVC MEMBERS HOMECOMING CRUISE............

Dvc all the way right from the start, make it all about DVC !!!!!! :flower: :cloud9:

try pop or non dvc resort and free dining another time !

We went with the Pop Century Free Dining! We did have one overlapping night at BWV (waited to late to cancel) so a little of both Resorts

CarolMN you were spot on! We were so used to the Table service on the ship, it would have been killer to pay for those nice meals at WDW. We did HDDR our first night and it was great! We will definitely do it again!

wdwstar, you were right about the beds at POP. They are small!! We worked it out, but we would not stay there longer than a night or two in the future. Do they have King bedrooms?

Spicey you were right about it being a great resort, in context. The busses were really great too. There was always another one right behind the first one. They were full, but continous.

Ds's liked the theming and it was neat to spend time at Classic Hall looking at all the Icons.

I am glad we tried it and it was definitely much better than I expected and we enjoyed HDDR, Concourse Steakhouse and Chef Mickey's! We have found a new favorite in HDDR.

Thank you all for your votes and replies!

Hey LiferBabe! I'm glad you had a great trip. I met your DH in the hot tub at BWV on Thursday I think it was. Your two boys were with them. We got to talking about DIS and DVC with a couple from New York. As he was leaving, he told me your screen name, so I just had to say Hello! Tell him I said Hi and that I'm the one from Louisiana- Baton Rouge, to be exact. Wish we were still there!
