I read on allearsnet.com that some boardwalk villa studios have a daybed for a child besides the queen bed and pull out sofa. Does anyone know if these room exist?

Yes, they do exist and we stayed in one last April- Room 5065- There are a limited number of them tho; so you have to request one when making your ressie. They won't guarantee one but will put the request on your reservation. My 8 year old slept fine on it.

We had two with daybed just a couple of weeks ago. 2097 and 2099. We didn't request them.

I recall the mattress was quite thin. Not a regular mattress, nor is it a regular daybed size.

The BWV dedicated studios have them. The last (and only) time we were in one, our then 8 year old DD was too big to sleep on it. But it did make for a very nice place to put our suitcase.;)

We stayed in one of these rooms. I don't know who thought to call that bench a daybed, but I would definitely not have anyone sleep on it. The pad is very thin, maybe 1" - 2" thick and the back is wooden slats. The size is smaller than a toddler bed. Someone posted a picture not too long ago, I'll try to find it.

i would love to see the photo if you find it. We are deciding between beach club and boardwalk and the daybed would be for my son who will turn three when we are there and he will not go in a crib. Do you think the pool is as good as stormalong bay?

My son has slept on this on several trips. He is now 11. It is a thin mattress, but he loved not having to share a bed with his sister (a blanket hog!).

What is a "dedicated" studio?

A lockoff studio would have the door that can be opened to a 1 bedroom to form a 2 bedroom. A dedicated studio does not have that door, it can only be a separate studio.

When you said Yacht Club or Boardwalk Villas, you didn't mean Boardwalk Inn, did you? Because the Boardwalk Inn would be just like the Yacht Club with the regular size daybed and set up to sleep five in a room.

The Boardwalk Villas on the vacation club side of the Boardwalk resort does have some dedicated studios with the small bench/daybed. Our great nephew who was 4 at the time slept on this bench/daybed just fine. He thought it was cool that he didn't have to sleep with anybody else. He was "adventure sleeping" on the bench. I don't think it would work for anybody much over 5 or 6 unless they were pretty small, though.

Just stayed in one of these studios, and the mattress was a whopping 4-5" thick! (Of course, since it was just DNiece and me, we used the daybed as a bench.)

It was Room 3031 (NS/Non-HA).

thanks for the help and the picture. it looks like it would work for my 3y/o. he wouldn't want to share a bed with his sister, he likes his own.

We just stayed at BWV then moved to BCV. The kids DGD9 and DGS7 loved both the pools equally. They do really love the whirlpool at BCV but both said they would be just as happy at the BWV.

Remember the BWV also have the BW entertainment - they kids LOVED them and kept asking to go back to the BW to see them.

5063 is also a dedicated studio with a daybed. Stayed in that one in Aug '04 and loved it. Great location. There was no way my dd, 11 and tall, would fit on the daybed. We treated it like a bench. It was much smaller than the trundle at POR-AB and she wasn't all the comfy on that when she was 6! It certainly wasn't the same size day bed as at the Polynesian...that is actually a twin size. Not the case at BWV's. Otherwise they would sleep 5 rather than 4.

The biggest thing to remember is you cannot be guaranteed this type of room. I don't think they will even take it as a request. We had one of these a few years back and my son (who was about 6 at the time) refused to sleep on it.
So the three of us shared the queen and sleeper sofa - musical beds at night. Whoever got the sleeper sofa got to sleep by him- or herself.
