BWV: Studio vs 1bdrm pref

My friend and I are going to Disney in May (11-16) and have a 1bdrm pref view reserved at BWV. She is bringing her DS (almost 4) and I am bringing my DD (almost 5). I can save quite a few points if we switch to a studio.
I have a few questions:
1. Does every studio have a balcony/patio?
2. We are seasoned Disney travellers and don't spend much time in our rooms. Will we be disappointed with the studio vs the 1bdrm?

I am a new DVC member and have only used my points once - family/cousins trip in Oct 2002 (4 adults, 4 kids) in a 2 bdrm @ OKW.
We have a trip planned in December also.....

Any advice?

yes every studio has a balcony/patio.

No - I don't think you will be disappointed in a studio - not if you aren't in your room that much - just remember that the bed is a queen (not king) and the sleeper sofa is a full (not a queen) sleeper sofa.

the washer and dryers are on the first floor - free to DVC members - if I miss anything it is not having the washer/dryer in my room - oh I also miss the whirlpool tub after a day at the parks - but the pools have them. So....

The BWV studio is smaller than at OKW. It has one bed and a pull out sofa bed. The mini kitchen is great. I would definitely think about sleeping arrangements. If your kids are good sleepers and won't be bothered by others in the same room than go for the point savings and enjoy. But if you have kids that need quiet time before bed I would rethink the studio. To me there is nothing worse than a tired child.
Have a great trip.

I wouldn't do it. I bought DVC for comfortable stays at WDW. Four in a studio doesn't qualify as comfortable for me.

If I were going with a friend and their child, I would stay with the 1BR. It costs more, but the convenience of laundry, in-room meals and privacy are very important to me, personally. Sometimes you can have too much togetherness.

I try to save on points - so I would go with the studio - if you mean it about not being in your room much - I mean only to sleep then you leave early the next morning - or yes it will get crowded! kept in mind in both situation you are talking about 1 bath room for 4 people - I would go with 2 studios before a 1-bedroom - they have their room and you have yours for the same amount of points as a 1-bedroom. (this is nice if someone gets sick or wakes up early or isn't a good sleeper).

of course you kids probably want to sleep together - so I don't know about 2 studios.

Personal preference for sure, but my husband and I just spent a night at OKW in one of the studios. The room is big, I loved the colors, it was a relaxing resort, and we had a great time. That said, one of our reasons for going was to get a feel for alternate accomodations (we're usually BVC/BWV 2 bdrm folks) when our kids don't accompany us. We decided we would not do a studio again, even for just the two of us. There's certainly nothing wrong with the studios, but the 1 bedrooms are just so much nicer (for us) and roomier, they will be our choice in the future.

We also spent 3 nights at the DD Hilton. That will never be happening again, either. Not a pretty picture when you're used to DVC.

I would save the points and stay in a studio. If you all are not going to be in the room much a studio is plenty of room.
