We managed to book a studio at BWV for our trip on 9/16 (3 days ago...I was shocked). Of course, no standard view available, asked for a BW view, no go, only preferred view.

Now, I have seen that sometimes the preferred view is not so preferred. :teeth: And I don't know how jazzed I would be to wake up everyday with Pennywise there staring into my room. {shudder}

Ordinarily I wouldn't be all that concerned, but with it just being DH, me and DS, we will probably relax a lot more this trip and hang out on the balcony more often.

Can I keep my preferred/pool view and waitlist for a BW view on the off chance someone cancels?? Should I request something in particular? Should I bother worrying about it? Should I pack garlic necklaces to keep "him" out?? :rotfl: Help!! :)

Yes - you can still waitlist for the BWV view.

But no need to panic if it doesn't come through - IMHO, there are very few views at the BWV that aren't good. You don't want the clown? No problem. Request to be in the Community Hall/quiet pool area or request to over look the croquet lawn. This latter is a very nicely landscaped area that also has a view of the canal and the Swan/Dolphin resorts.

The quiet pool/Community Hall area is usually very peaceful in the early mornings and late evenings. Some of those rooms have a view of the TOT (from MGM) and even the higher level fireworks and lasers from Fantasmic. Most also have a view of the canal and the Swan resort.

It's my opinion that those two views are requested much less frequently than is the Luna Park area (main pool with clown slide), so you have a very good chance of getting one.

P.S. You can also request a view of the Village Green - this is the area between the lobby and the lake. The other two "sides" of the lawn are the BWI wing and the BWV wing. There are less rooms in this area than the other two and it is often requested so your chances of getting a room in this area are less than the other two mentioned above. But if you are lucky enough to get one, you will have a partial view of the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake, so it is worth a shot. These rooms can be noisy in the late evenings, though (due to the BW games and the late night revelers that close down JellyRolls).

Have fun -

So wait...am I understanding correctly that the rooms above the Wyland Gallary are NOT Boardwalk view, but are preferred view?? We had a standard view once and stayed above the Community Hall with a beautiful view of TOT, the Swan, the Dolphin, and the canal - not bad for a standard view.

Room above the Wyland are not considered BW view - the corner rooms may be, though.

If you overlooked the Community Hall but were booked for a standard view, you were upgraded to a PV. Upgrades do happen, (but rarely) and when they do, the reason is usually due to an unexpected mainteneance problem or overbooking. Surprised they didn't tell you it was an upgrade. Upgrades from SV happened a lot when the exterior rehab was occuring.

I'm going to book BWV the day my 7-month window opens. Ideally, a standard view would be the best to save points. However, if a Boardwalk view is available, I'll take that!!! I really, however, don't want a preferred view. I don't want to pay more unless I can see the Boardwalk!!!!!!!

So, what are my chances of getting BWV w/ Boardwalk view? It it easier to get view requests if you are in a studio or 1-bedroom?

Chances depend on when you want to stay. Most times of the year, there are waitlists for BW view rooms before the 7 month window even opens. Those who travel in January, the 1st half of February, May, & September are more likely to get BW & SV rooms at 7 months than those who travel at other times. Shorter trips have better odds of getting a BW view than longer ones.

It is possible to get a BW view room if you don't own there, but the odds are not in your favor. Be sure to call day by day as soon as MS opens and use the waitlist for days that are not available. You can make a back up reservation elsewhere if you're not the "gambling" type.

P.S. Just wanted to make sure you know that the PV-Boardwalk view rooms are a separate booking category from the PV -Pool/Garden rooms. You'll know when you call if you have one or not - BW view is not a request. You can waitlist for it if you want. I think SV rooms are harder to get than BW view rooms.

You will be OK anywhere at BWV.
